Context of role:

Girl Effect team is looking for a Programme Lead / Senior Program Manager who will provide essential support and expertise to forge partnerships for the development and implementation of current and new programs to deliver a deeper and scaled impact within sexual and reproductive health and economic empowerment.

The Programme Lead / Senior Program Manager will oversee the implementation of India programs,  ensuring that all activities are executed effectively and within budget. This role involves managing project timelines, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements. They will also be responsible for monitoring project progress, addressing any issues or risks, reporting on project outcomes, and tracking and managing budgets. The Programme Lead / Senior Program Manager is expected to manage programs on the ground ensuring timely deliverables.

Part of the role is to contribute and be part of new business bids and proposals. Critical for success will be an ability to share Girl Effect’s work through compelling, sophisticated, and technically excellent pitch decks, proposals, and business cases. They will coordinate across departments, ensuring that all aspects of the proposal process are completed. 

The Programme Lead / Senior Program Manager reports to the Country Director and is part of the organization’s Programmes team. They will work closely and collaboratively with the partnerships, create and impact teams, the marketing and communications team, and other external stakeholders.

This is a remote role with a 24-month full-time contract.

Duties and responsibilities:
 Project Management
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of Girl Effect  India’s portfolio of programs  that include GAVI funded HPV program and Kering Foundation-funded TFGBV program
  • Provide strategic inputs and support for programs
  • Participating in country-level Budget v Actuals meetings to ensure spending against grant budgets is on track and within agreed donor variances
  • Manage project work plans and resources/ budgets and ensure compliance with donor and organizational requirements.
  • Facilitate regular project review meetings and progress updates and monitor project progress and address any issues or risks.
  • Report on project outcomes and impact.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination among project team members.
  • Managing and coordinating  with internal teams to complete all planned activities to meet project deliverables
  • Responsible for Managing the budget/ cashflows and expenditure, program administration, and procurement operations.  
  • Track, review, update, and course-correct delivery of existing grant implementation plans
  • Ensuring that key information regarding meetings, visits, communications, and other engagements is effectively shared between programs and multi-function teams. identifying, and resolving any bottlenecks at the country level
  • Lead a direct team of two employees.
  • Support the oversight of consultants to support program implementation.
  • Prepare program updates, presentations,  decks, and share outs with the internal & external stakeholders. Support Communications Lead with materials on program progress.
  • Working in collaboration with the Partnerships Lead, supporting the development writing of concept notes, proposals  and developing pitch decks for funding opportunities within India  as aligned with global teams
  • Engage in networking to expand the organization’s positioning and enhance the organization’s image and visibility
  • Develop/maintain relationships with funders and partners across the sector that work with girls and women focusing on immunization, gender equality, sexual and reproductive health, and economic empowerment.

 Key requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 10-12 years of experience in managing complex development projects.
  • Experience working in women’s health and economic empowerment projects, immunization, GBV, and/or digital literacy programs.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience in managing donor-funded projects, preferably in India or similar contexts. Strong analytical and financial management skills.
  • You will bring a positive ‘can-do’, proactive, flexible attitude and drive to make things happen, whilst consistently looking for news and creative ways to make improvements
  • Proficiency in risk management, budget management, staff resourcing, timeline management, and logistics across multiple ( often concurrent) projects with diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptionally well organized; detail oriented, can plan and prioritize effectively across conflicting demands to achieve results and meet milestones
  • Familiarity with work and project management tools such as Asana etc, PMP certification is good to have.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural teams with varying expertise, skills, and backgrounds.
  • Ability to undertake reasonable business travel with prior notice.
