General Description:
The successful candidate will be an experienced Accounting Specialist capable of performing all necessary accounting functions for the business while also supporting tax management. Specifically, the candidate will examine financial information, enter transactions into the accounting system (QuickBooks), and set up client files. In addition, the candidate will monitor records, ledgers, and filing systems of journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations. They will prepare financial forms, reports, and documents by collecting and analyzing accounting information. They will assist with tax filings and oversee payroll processing. They will prepare for and support internal and external audits, review employee expense reports, perform necessary sub-ledger accounting, roll content to and perform accounting at the general ledger level, perform ledger month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings, and produce necessary reports in support of business execution.


Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities and typical tasks could include, but are not limited to:
  • Track all outgoing payments and reconcile reported payments with credit card/bank statements each month.
  • Create outgoing invoices, track receipts, and reconcile reported receipts with bank statements.
  • Review/oversee payroll processing
  • Perform all activities associated with maintaining active and up-to-date accounts payable transactions and reporting in QuickBooks.
  • Perform all activities associated with maintaining active and up-to-date accounts receivable transactions and reporting in QuickBooks.
  • Roll sub-ledger accounts to the General Ledger in QuickBooks.
  • Perform month, quarter, and year-end close-out and provide status reports on the financial health of the company.
  • Contribute to/provide data for the development and tracking of annual company budgets.
  • Review and validate expense reports.
  • Perform general accounting/record keeping.
  • Support tax management/payments on a monthly/quarterly basis.

Specialized Knowledge:
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).
  • Must be an expert in the use of QuickBooks.
  • Understanding and experience with Government accounting principles and practices as well as how to align company data and practices with Federal Government and DoD accounting expectations.
  • Knowledge of Paylocity is a plus

Education:
Associate’s degree and 5+ years of work-related experience or a combination of both.

Experience:
5 years of experience supporting a Defense contractor, providing direct accounting support.

Must be a U.S. Citizen


Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment with members that include personnel from other organizations within the headquarters.

Working conditions:
  • Duty hours are expected to be part-time, with days and hours negotiable.
  • Hybrid working model, with Mondays and Fridays working remotely and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays working in the Headquarters office in Beavercreek, Ohio.
