Job description

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a global, nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., working to improve environmental sustainability, human health, and resilience in the built environment through its programs and rating systems including LEED. Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) is the premier certification body responsible for global delivery and quality oversight of green building and green business sustainability standards. Its integrated team of green building specialists administers credentials and certifications for the U.S. Green Building Council (LEED), the International WELL Building Institute (WELL Building Standard), International Finance Corporation (EDGE), PEER, Sustainable SITES, TRUE Zero Waste, and IREE. 

 

The Human Resources (HR) team is seeking a full-time Director, Talent Acquisition to develop, lead and manage all aspect of full-cycle recruitment, onboarding new hires, and workforce planning initiatives across the organization. This new role will benefit from a leader who has a proven ability to take initiative, prioritize competing demands, and produce valuable results which can be used to make organizational decisions within talent acquisition. The individual will have significant impact in attracting top talent and championing the brand and engagement level with internal and external clients. This leader will continually elevate talent and technical expertise of USGBC and GBCI through talent acquisition.  

 

This position can be done remotely or in a hybrid capacity within our DC office.  

 

 

Specific Responsibilities 

  • Develop and operate a scalable talent acquisition strategy that reflects the organization’s growth, values and culture
  • Build and track recruiting metrics and KPIs across different teams, while driving continuous improvements
  • Collaborate with global hiring managers to ensure effective, timely and professional recruitment process management
  • Oversee all stages of candidate experience, including application, interviews, references, decision, and communication
  • Forecast hiring needs based on organizational growth plans
  • Manage successful onboarding process across national and global offices, ensuring candidate experience flows smoothly from recruitment through start date
  • Ensure all recruiting practices are in compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Develop and maintain policies to support fair, equitable, and compliant hiring practices
  • Partner with the operational and team leadership within different regions to drive talent acquisition strategies and align recruitment resources to organizational needs through: 
    1. Routine in person meetings 
    2. Monthly check-ins to provide recruitment metrics
    3. Consistent prioritization of top roles across various departments
    4. Ensures all recruitment tools are being maximized, sourcing strategies are being developed and results are obtained
    5. Partner with the organization to drive effective university relationships with appropriate programs. This includes identification and engagement of academic partners to drive the USGBC/GBCI’s brands with faculty, students, career centers and student organizations
    6. Ongoing assessment and recommendations to enhance talent acquisition strategies
    7. Champion of diversity recruitment efforts. Partner with other dedicated diversity resources to drive hiring results
    8. Conduct presentations to key internal stakeholders regarding talent acquisition strategies and tactics
    9. Ability to extract, analyze and act on data supporting talent acquisition strategies
    10. Partner with HR team to positively contribute to the entire employee lifecycle
    11. Provide business trends, insights and lessons to support overall organizational growth and be an active contributing member of the HR team 

 

Education & Experience Requirements 

  • 10+ years of experience in Talent Acquisition, with 3+ years of experience leading remote teams, preferably through continuous change, ambiguity, and growth
  • Bachelors is required; advanced degree preferred
  • Experience leading talent acquisition and full-cycle recruitment with a global non-profit sector preferred
  • Expert level knowledge of recruitment technologies, applicant tracking systems (specifically ADP and LinkedIn Recruiter), hiring labor practices, and strategies
  • Proven successes in attracting and hiring top talents within the sustainability industry
  • Experience growing and developing successful, efficient and impactful recruitment processes at a national and global level
  • Strong skills in communication (interpersonal, written and presentation), project management and ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in hiring practices
  • Proven ability to partner with leadership across departments
  • HR designation (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) preferred
     

     
     

 

Details:  

  • Full-Time role with benefits
  • Location: Washington, DC (hybrid) or remote
  • If candidate is a resident of Washington DC/Virginia/Maryland, they must be able to commute into the office few times a week
  • Hours: Regular working hours negotiated during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm ET),
