Job description

Who are we?

Newmedica are one of the leading providers of NHS ophthalmology services in England, providing outpatients appointments, diagnostic testing and eye surgery. We aim to change lives through better sight and eye health.

We care for thousands of NHS and private patients a year in our specialist eye clinics across the country. We have significant growth plans over the next few years as we look to establish a national footprint and open many new sites across the UK.

We are thrilled to say that following an independently conducted survey of Newmedica colleagues, we have been certified as a Great Place to Work for the second-year running®. This is a global benchmark that recognises employers who create an outstanding employee experience.

As the Head of Data, you'll be at the helm of our data team comprising currently 7 individuals. The remit of the team is to maintain the data integrity within Newmedica ensuring that the information we provide to internal stakeholders and external partners is robust and delivered in a timely manner.

You’ll be developing the data strategy in line with Newmedica’s five-year plan focussing on elements such as managing the Microsoft Azure data environment, ensuring high standards in SQL, Power BI, and other systems development, leading clinical coding compliance and assurance and keeping up to data with regulatory changes and new initiatives.

Of course, this also means that you’ll be able to grow in this role and scale up your operations to meet the needs of the expanding business. Which is an exciting prospect!

You’ll have held senior Data roles and have an excellent understanding of data technologies, especially SQL, Azure Data Factory, Python, R, and data visualization platforms like Power BI. And you’ll have experience of data architecture design and development and implementing workflow-enabled solutions.

You’ll have held leadership positions and will be an accomplished leader of people; you’ll have experience of coaching and developing your team and will be used to driving results through their performance.

Stakeholder management is pivotal, and you’ll ensure effective collaboration with the Senior Management Team, various business functions and external stakeholders to meet their current and future data and reporting requirements. You’ll have opportunity every day to use your excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as your project management and strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

Please note we use video interviews as part of our recruitment process. If you are shortlisted, you will be asked to complete a short video interview as the next stage of the process.
