Associate Underwriter - Scale Underwriting

Scale Underwriting (powered by Millennial Specialty Insurance) is a boutique MGA which is focused on providing the best management liability insurance coverage for its clients. Our mission is to take the stress out of buying insurance, and provide our clients with exceptional services and support so they can effectively protect their assets.

This position is responsible for assisting the underwriting team quote business, bind policies, process/request amendments for policies (as requested by brokers and approved by underwriters). Request necessary binding documents/information from brokers, and follow up for prompt receipt of same. Review accounts’ loss history and discuss all questionable claims with underwriters prior to binding. Discuss with underwriters all change requests received from brokers at time of binding. Send binding confirmation to brokers. Document all and update our system with the most current policy information in a timely manner. Provide prompt and courteous service to underwriters, brokers, and management. This includes providing the necessary support to the overall production and profit objectives of the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Review submissions, finalize risk reports, consult with underwriters for approval to release to brokers 
• Bind Accounts: Bind new and renewal business upon receipt of all required documentation in a timely manner (within 24 hours or sooner if all documents have been received). If unable to bind account: Notify Broker in writing (“cc” underwriter) and inform them of the required information/documentation needed in order to process their bind request; including time frame the Broker has to provide same. Flag account appropriately in Public Folders. Requests for exceptions to bind without all required documentation to must be refer to Manager.
• Endorsements (as needed): Submit amendment request(s) to carriers as indicated by brokers and approved by underwriters. Upon receipt, proofread and forward to broker. Document in Image Right system.
• Document all verbal and written transactions: Copy of all correspondence and telephone conversations to be documented in Image Right system. All rating systems to be maintained updated with latest account status.
• Communication: Communicate effectively with brokers, underwriters, company personnel and management. All correspondence to include complete sentences and proper grammar.

AS NEEDED:

• Issue Loss Runs,
• Assist in temporary coverage of another desk, and
• Assist in other underwriting processing tasks when other Processors/Technical Assistants are unavailable
• All other duties as requested by Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Program underwriting requirements must be achieved.
• Knowledge of computer systems and operations. Knowledge of Salesforce / MS Office a plus.
• Good listening skills and communication skills.
• Attention to detail a must.
