North Wind Solutions is a Government contracting small business with operations at military and civilian installations across the United States. The company’s focus is facilities operation and maintenance, waste management and radiological services, security control and force protection, and environmental services.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Manage, administer, configure and support the Oracle Database environment within the Hanford Site Accreditation Boundary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In support of the North Wind IT Infrastructure organization, supporting the Hanford site cleanup mission, the candidate must be an United States Citizen, this position will be part of a team responsible for supporting Hanford's Oracle Weblogic application and database environments. This activity includes the supporting infrastructure, servers, storage, and databases to ensure enterprise level performance, availability, and security. You will be working with IT professionals on various infrastructure components, systems and servers supporting hundreds of Hanford applications and systems.
We are specifically looking for an Oracle Middleware WebLogic Administrator with experience in:

  • Oracle Fusion Middleware/WebLogic 12.2.1.x/14.1.x
  • Oracle Forms/Reports 12c and newer along with BI Publisher
  • Oracle HTTP Server (OHS)
  • Apex and REST Data Sources
  • Oracle RDBMS 12c or greater
  • SQL including PL/SQL
  • Experience working in both Red Hat Linux 7.x and newer as well as Windows Server 2012R2 and newer.
  • Microsoft Azure Cloud environment experience is a plus.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an Oracle Weblogic/Database Administrator, you will be part of a team that manages the day-to-day technical operations and product management of our Oracle environment which includes; Application Monitoring and Database Performance, Configuration, Maintenance, Backup and Recovery, Security Patching Cycles, Upgrades and troubleshooting.

Work activities include Tier-3 troubleshooting support; working with the End User Support teams and Operations staff to effectively manage and communicate issues, performing problem analysis to resolution. Other Duties include; Installation, Configuring, and Maintaining Oracle infrastructure servers, Systems integration, Capacity planning, System-wide operation control, and Task automation. In this position the candidate may assist in developing new system implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability and high availability while meeting system security requirements.

The candidate will be expected to lead problem-solving efforts, often involving outside vendors and other support personnel or organizations. These duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Oracle Weblogic administration.
  • Provide technical support to maintain, operate, upgrade and patch Oracle Weblogic application systems and databases to ensure maximum performance and availability.
  • Oracle Database administration
  • Working with application development staff to create quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Create models for new database development or changes to existing ones.
  • Respond to and resolve application and or database access and performance issues.
  • Monitor, optimize, and request when needed, allocation of virtual storage for database and application systems.
  • Participate in the assessment and development of long-term strategic goals for the Oracle systems and environments.
  • Design and implement systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective production and integrity of the Oracle data assets.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on application and database products, services, protocols, and standards.
  • Responsible for monitoring application and database performance, performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Responsible to control database access for users and applications and apply security best practices.
  • Establish guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host environment and client tools.
  • Develop procedures and documentation for backup and restoration as well as DR/COOP capabilities.
  • Advise management of developments in the industry or on the Hanford Site that could affect the Oracle environment, projects, and client relations.
  • Maintain and follow all organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:

BA/BS degree with 12 years of Information Technology experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, including 6+ years of Oracle Weblogic along with 4+ years as an Oracle DBA working with Oracle 12c/19c. Experience with Red Hat Linux, VMWare virtual server environment, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and RMAN.

Skills and Abilities:

The Weblogic/Database Administrator shall have proficient experience in Oracle Weblogic and Database Administration and have experience in managing Oracle servers in a virtualized environment, possessing a strong understanding of Oracle Weblogic configurations and database structures, principles and practices. The individual shall be proficient in knowledge and use of Oracle Weblogic administration and server tools and have experience in high availability Disaster Recovery/Continuity of Operational Planning capabilities.

  • 6+ years’ supporting WebLogic installation, troubleshooting, upgrades, patching and Domain migrations.
  • 4+ years’ experience with Oracle database administration (Version 12R2c/18c/19c).
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle RMAN (Recovery Manager), Oracle database cloning and replicating.
  • Experience with successfully resolving complex issues within a moderate to large Oracle environment.
  • Experience in leading subject matter experts or project teams.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Weblogic and Database Administration best practices.
  • Highly self-motivated with a keen attention to detail.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Acquire and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
North Wind is looking for a highly knowledgeable Weblogic Administrator with experience in Oracle Database Administration and skills that are relative to the DOE Hanford Accreditation Boundary Oracle Environment including: HLAN Enterprise desktop and server environment, specifically Oracle Weblogic and Database server environments.

  • Maintaining Server SSL Certificates and Server SSL configuration.
  • HLAN Business Management Systems and other Enterprise applications hosted on Oracle databases.
  • Knowledge of HMIS and Hanford Site policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Proficiency with WebLogic Application Server Installation, Configuration, Deployment, Administration, Patching/Upgrading, Tuning & Troubleshooting.
  • Developing a complete set of Weblogic documentation describing the current configuration of Weblogic, Forms & Reports, and BI Publisher.
  • Weblogic best practices and standards for tested implementation.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or similar Certifications would-be a plus.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position is a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be sitting for long periods of time but will also be required to stand, walk, and communicate with others.
