Position Summary:

ultraimpact – Make a difference for those who need it most

Market Access & Government Affairs Associate Director–Brazil is responsible for defining and executing strategies settled to secure access at the State Health Secretaries and Private Market level for all Ultragenyx products. In addition, will be responsible for understanding and monitoring Ultragenyx products flow in the Federal Government Level to guarantee access. This position requires interaction with federal, state, and local governments and private entities to represent the organization being responsible for developing and implementing Federal and State Government Level plans defined by the General Manager and Market Access & Gov Affairs Director, and work in conjunction with MKT, UCLs, MSL, PSP, ONGs, Business Operations, Medical Team, and Regulatory if in the case. The Market Access & Government Affairs Associate–Brazil will get support from Market Access & Gov Affairs Director for the Federal Level activities to implement the strategy and address any requirement from Authority within the Ministry of Health.

Work Model: 

Field: Officially documented as working as a member of the Ultragenyx field team, generally interacting with third parties on behalf of Ultragenyx.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Identify Key Stakeholders at Federal and State Health Secretaries/private level, that oversee access.
  • Support the development of strategies and coalition building to support Ultragenyx’s objectives.
  • Observe changes within Brazilian MOH and State Health Secretaries/private and collaborate with other functional areas, to support fast strategic plans adaptation.
  • Identify routes to strengthen relationships from a government affairs perspective as well as patient advocacy initiatives, bringing them to Gov Affairs director and Brazil Patient Advocacy.
  • Participate and create solutions for supporting access to medication for patients in conjunction with the Pharmaceutical Assistance of Brazilian states and understand and support actions that facilitate access to medication within the various public pharmacies that distribute specialty medication.
  • Guide the various internal departments on the Reimbursement Decisions, Request Reports, Evaluation, and Authorization of Medication of the Specialized Component of Pharmaceutical Assistance – LME.
  • Assist in implementing the PCDT (Clinical Guideline) of Ultragenyx products within government agencies and the State Health Departments throughout Brazil.
  • Support and monitor Federal Level activities through different MoH departments (SCITICS, SE, SAES, etc.).
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or credentialing in a relevant science discipline, preferably in the healthcare area. A graduate degree is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Relevant experience in the rare disease space encompassing patient identification and establishment of KOL networks is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare industry required.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as build rapport with cross-functional teams.
  • Must be action-oriented, a problem solver, patient and customer focused possess excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Bilingual - Portuguese and English preferable.
  • Position is field based and will require 75% travel including overnight business travel.
