Job Description:
Project Hire: This role is a project-based role, with an anticipated duration of March 2025 to October, 2026.
Location: This position will be based in the Los Angeles metropolitan market.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $129,493.00 to $163,890.00. Compensation is based on location and experience.
Job Summary:
The Senior Show Network Engineer (SNE) is responsible for delivery and administration of dedicated show networks in Meow Wolf exhibitions. They will operate as part of the creative design team on new exhibitions and oversee all aspects of the show network to serve the needs of the creative teams that design them through to the operations teams that rely on the show network daily. The Sr. SNE has the opportunity to participate in the creative process alongside some of the world’s greatest artists and build the backbone that makes it possible.
The show network consists of media and control devices directly involved in creating the guest experience at Meow Wolf. Show devices are not user associated and are unattended, intended for independent operation for the lifetime of the exhibition with minimal maintenance.
Show System devices on the Show Network include: AVoIP streaming audio and video appliances such as streaming audio processors and end points and JPEG2000 encoders and decoders; projectors and displays; standalone microcontrollers; and Linux, MacOS, and Windows computers. The Show Network utilizes industry specific standards such as Dante, Q-LAN, AES67, sACN, Art-NET, JPEG2000 video streams, in addition to UDP control, PTP, and VoIP protocols. These standards require specific configuration and careful testing of QoS, IGMP snooping, mDNS, jumbo frames, and other common and uncommon protocols.
To be successful in this role the Sr. SNE must be a gifted collaborator capable of building rapport, respect, and trust from a large group of people with a very different background. This role is intended to be one that serves, protects, and contributes to the art and the artists which give Meow Wolf its voice. Job Responsibilities:
Act as a leader and subject matter expert representing networking among a highly diverse group of artists, designers, engineers, and programmers.
Designing of cross discipline networks that meet the needs of all of the show systems as well as future growth plans and reliability metrics.
Work from the beginning of the project to identify and document the networking needs of all the exhibits and support systems and direct contractors in the design of a show network that meets those needs.
During project production and installation, program, test, and commission the network switches and provision the media servers in advance of and following site testing and activation.
Support the designers and artists working on the project with network needs throughout the opening of the exhibition.
Train the local technical operations team in basic troubleshooting and maintenance of the show network devices.
Work closely with the exhibition design teams to determine and document the needs of show system devices across disciplines
Create a workflow for configuration, commissioning, and administration of new show systems
Work with the Show System Programmer (SSP) to develop control and monitoring schema for network devices and clients
Direct third party network design engineers through project design phases
Support the network needs of internal and external technical artists during programming and frosting project phases
Develop standards and best practices for show network design and operation
Qualifications:
The Senior Show Network Engineer must have experience in design, engineering, and administration of specialized show networks in complex Themed, Immersive, and/or Live Entertainment networks. Experience must include the following areas:
Show Network Specialization - 5+ years experience
IT Systems Administration - 10+ years experience
Network Systems Design and Engineering - 5+ years experience
Construction projects - 5+ years experience
The Senior Show Network Engineer must have experience with all of the following systems:

Windows
MacOS

The Senior Show Network Engineer must have or work toward the following certifications:

Work Environment:
This job also operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners. This position will also work in an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines and small and/or enclosed spaces.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical ability to walk, stand, take stairs/slides/elevators, and navigate the elements during the day and night. Employee may be required to remain in a sitting or standing position for prolonged periods, and repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work a flexible schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
This position does not require supervisory responsibility.
Travel (subject to change)
Regular travel to exhibitions and other locations to train staff and oversee network updates, 1 week trip, 6-8 trips per year
Occasional last minute travel to an exhibition location in the case of a network emergency
Extended travel to project sites for new exhibitions (2-3 month travel duration)
