The Role:
This role as Head of Service Development will create and manage a portfolio of projects whilst supporting and leading the Service Development Team and their Clinical Reference Group
The purpose of the role is to work closely with the Chief of Growth, Head of Market Development, reference groups Clinical Directors and Service Development Managers to support, facilitate and deliver the agreed clinical strategies and initiatives, linking with key areas of the business units and functional leads to ensure robust implementation.
This role reports to the Chief Growth Officer and will join what is already a very productive and successful Development team. The Head of Service Development is an invaluable colleague to the Chief Growth Officer and Clinical Directors, whom they will work closely with to support the delivery of our clinical strategy. This is a new and exciting opportunity that will develop as our experience and clinical strategy evolves.
This role requires exceptional communication and relationship building skills as well as well as a proven track record of managing a broad portfolio of projects and ensuring execution on initiatives and projects.
What You'll Do:
- Responsible for the curation of a clinical strategy for the UK business, working in partnership with other subject matter experts.
- Manage and develop the Service Development Team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
- Coordinate and effectively communicate the progress of all service development projects internally
- To build internal relationships both with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Heads of Service, with clarity of their remit and responsibilities.
- Work in partnership with the Head of Market Development and Head of Marketing to ensure seamless collaboration between the creation of clinical strategies and their implementation and adoption
- Continue to build relationships with consultant haematologists, consultant oncologists, surgeons, radiologists and any other clinician that may be involved with the portfolios projects
- Understand the private oncology market and how/where GenesisCare will make a profound impact for patients and clinicians; with a particular focus within the haematology, cardiac and stereotactic radiotherapy spectrum and future advances in treatment
- Ensure collaborative working within and across all reference groups and key opinion leaders
- Have oversight of all UK clinical strategies in order to identify areas for collaboration and avoid duplication.

Experience and Skills:
In-depth knowledge of cancer care services:
As Head of Service Development in a cancer care company must have a strong understanding of the various services provided in cancer care, including diagnostics, therapy, support services, and patient pathways.
Strategic planning and development:
The ability to develop and implement strategic plans for the growth and improvement of cancer care services is crucial for this role. This includes identifying areas for development, setting goals, and creating action plans to achieve them.
Leadership and team management:
As a senior leader within the organisation, the Head of Service Development must have strong leadership experience of developing high performing teams to whom deliver annual objectives. This includes setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Stakeholder engagement and relationship management:
Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, patients, and external partners, is essential for the successful development of cancer care services. The Head of Service Development must be able to effectively communicate with and influence stakeholders to support the organization's goals.
Analytical and problem-solving skills:
The ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make informed decisions based on evidence is critical for a Head of Service Development. This includes evaluating the effectiveness of current services via audit, identifying areas for improvement, and developing solutions to address challenges.
Project management:
The Head of Service Development will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of new initiatives and projects within the business. Strong project management experience & skills, including planning, budgeting, and monitoring progress, are essential for success in this role.
Communication and presentation skills:
Effective communication, both written and verbal, is key for a Head of Service Development to convey information, ideas, and updates to internal and external stakeholders. The ability to present complex information in a clear and engaging manner is also important for gaining buy-in and support for service development initiatives.
Qualifications and Knowledge:
- Extensive experience in the healthcare industry, specifically in cancer care services.
- Strong knowledge of cancer treatment modalities, patient pathways, and industry trends.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinicians, administrators, and external partners.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively lead & develop a team and drive change within the organisation.
- Ability to stay current on advancements in cancer care research and technology to inform service development strategies.
Other requirements for this role:
- National travel
- It will be necessary to meet with colleagues and clinicians across the UK and on occasions work during evenings or weekends.
