The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,500.00 in our lowest geographic market to $222,900.00 in our highest geographic market. Actual salary will vary based on a candidate's location, qualifications, skills and experience.

Senior Software Engineer, Android (Open to remote work, except the following locations: CO, SD, VT, and WV)
This position can be base remotely in the US, with preferred locations in the Pacific or Mountain Time Zones. For collaboration purposes, this position must work hours consistent with the West Coast.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a passionate, experienced and forward-thinking Senior Android Engineer to join our Nike App Commerce Team, who will help us to build premium, innovative native experiences for our flagship mobile apps for our consumers globally. Our Android mobile applications are used in 22+ countries, and we serve 6M+ monthly unique users. The successful candidate is both deeply experienced with Android development and a technical leader who loves mentoring and coaching others, that thrives in a collaborative agile environment.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
As part of this elite team, you will be working on our mission critical flagship mobile applications and mobile platform including Nike App and other flagship apps. You will be leading a group of passionate engineers to help us create consumer software and services used by all of Nike’s consumer mobile applications. As a technical leader, you’ll also be instrumental in driving our mobile technology vision forward and evangelizing mobile development and testing practices that drives Nike’s Digital transformation and growth strategies. This is a team that’s always on the offense, working on innovative solutions, building extraordinary experiences to serve Nike members around the globe.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
Other development / engineering teams, your peer teammates, cross-functional business stakeholders, privacy & security teams, Scrum Leads.
Responsibilities:
- Execute the technical development and delivery of elegant and intuitive app features across development teams, partnering with business collaborators, QE teams, and other geo-graphically dispersed engineering teams
- Provide technical leadership in evaluation, conceptualization, design and development of features
- Participate in the breakdown of stories into technical design and implementation tasks and participate in sprint planning and other scrum ceremonies
- Drive for continuous improvement in performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, and usability of features
- Work with application privacy and security teams to ensure the application is properly architected and maintained
- Provide strong technical leadership and mentorship to develop the capabilities of team members
- Exemplify how to write and review code and act on data feedback to decide what to build next
- Monitor and support health of mobile apps in production
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, Information Systems, or similar field or relevant professional experience, education, and training
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience developing consumer-facing Android applications
- Well versed with Agile methodology
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
- Proven track record of teamwork
Qualifications for Android Skillset:
- Expert in Kotlin, Java, related modern Android frameworks and popular Android devices
- Expert understanding of Android SDK (Activity/Fragment Lifecycle, Services, Push, Location Services)
- Experience developing, delivering, and supporting native Android applications by integrating REST APIs, push notifications, and multi-threaded experiences
- Deep understanding of multi-threading, memory management, networking, caching, performance optimization, localization, and security for Android applications
- Experience with modern Android build strategies, continuous integration, unit testing, test driven development (TDD), and automated integration tests
Desired Qualifications, but not Required:
- Deployment and UI testing the mobile app using Android emulators is a plus
- Experience with profiling tools to identify inefficiencies and improve app stability is desirable
- e-Commerce experience is a plus
