Job description

Every developer has a tab open on Stack Overflow.

We are one of the most popular websites in the world - a community-based space focused on increasing productivity, decreasing cycle times, accelerating time to market, and protecting institutional knowledge.

Innovation is at the heart of everything we do. We embrace collaboration, transparency, and believe in leading with empathy; creating an environment where every Stacker knows they belong. We embrace that the unique contributions and points of view of all Stackers contribute to our success.

We are a Best Company to Work For, in addition to being recognized for Best Company Leadership, Best Company Happiness, Best Company Perks and Benefits, Best Company Work-Life Balance, Best Company Compensation, and Best Company Outlook.

We are a remote-first company with Hiring HUBs based in the US, Canada, UK, and Germany.

We’re adding a Product Marketing Manager, Community Products to own all aspects of product marketing for new features and functionality we introduce on our sites to increase awareness, activation, repeat engagement/contributions, and retention.

What you’ll be doing

  • Become an expert on the Stack Overflow product and the needs of our users.
  • Develop clear product messaging. Use research and insights to create compelling value propositions and help shape future product development.
  • Manage the launch of new features and functionality. You’ll work cross-functionally with colleagues in Product Management, Research and Design, Community, Brand, and Marketing.
  • Liaise with other Product Marketing Managers to understand how new public platform features relate to our paid products and other business strategies.
  • Own the development of marketing collateral to promote features and benefits to our users. Manage internal and external resources to produce these assets.
  • Partner with Community, Product Management and Product Design to develop user-facing training and in-product messaging to support onboarding and drive adoption/engagement.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop programs and campaigns that generate awareness for Stack Overflow.

Skills & experience you bring

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in product marketing for an online community, in the developer space/ecosystem, or similar field/organization.
  • Experience developing and maintaining user personas, product positioning and messaging, collateral, user training/demos, and product launches.
  • Experience working with product teams to build and market features and functionality to improve user onboarding, growth, and/or gamification for online communities.
  • Experience partnering with Product, Research, Community, Product Design, Customer Success, Marketing, and Design teams.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. You’re comfortable presenting to users and peers.
  • Experience analyzing data to define success metrics and using available insights to tell a story.

Also note:

  • While we’re very open to hiring remote (globally), we need your working hours to overlap with at least the hours of 10AM - 1PM US Eastern time.
  • If this job interests you but you aren’t certain if you meet all of the requirements, apply anyway - we value different perspectives and experience.
  • We’ll only consider applications with a cover letter - please make sure to include yours and tell us what you’ll bring to the team. #LI-Remote  #LI-KS1

What you’ll get in return:

  • Competitive Base Salary
  • Generous paid vacation
  • Generous parental leave (16 weeks at 100% pay), family care leave, and unlimited sick days
  • Equity for all employees at all levels
  • Industry-leading health benefits that are applicable per country of residence for all our full-time employees
  • Company-paid Life Insurance
  • Home Internet stipend
