The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:
 

Pay Range: $66,300.00 - $99,500.00

Job Description

The Workforce Development Research Analyst plays a crucial part in researching key focus areas for the Workforce Team. Their work will help the team strategize, communicate, and collaborate to shape and grow Craft’s presence and position in the registered apprenticeship and workforce development spaces. They will also be instrumental in Craft’s strategy for conferences and event participation, and for elevating its brand as an important resource for Workforce Development Boards (WDBs), companies, and apprenticeship programs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive research on pre-apprenticeship and registered apprenticeship programs, including funding models, best practices, key players, and program and industry trends.
  • Reviews and analyzes national and state-specific data related to employer needs, skills gaps, workforce development, and industry demands.
  • Supports pipeline development by identifying and researching opportunities for growth in each region.
  • Gathers feedback from both employers and WDBs to ensure offerings align with needs.
  • Organizes and summarizes findings across research areas for key insights and actionable takeaways.
  • Assists in preparing data for national and regional conference presentations to showcase Craft and engage with attendees.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills, especially pertaining to information that may help identify and prioritize new partnerships and/or possible expansions.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret state-specific data for actionable insights, while also identifying potential applications or relevancy for other areas.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable being proactive and researching an array of content.
  • Skilled at written communication, with the ability to summarize and convey complex ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Attend periodic in-person meetings and/or conferences as-needed.

Education          

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing/market research, business administration, or statistics.

Experience

  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience conducting data analysis, market research, or financial modeling in a professional setting.
  • Experience supporting sales pipelines, and/or workforce development.
  • Experience preparing and delivering comprehensive reports, visualizations, or presentations for stakeholders.

Experience in lieu of education

Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements.  Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with apprenticeship programs and workforce development initiatives

Work Location

Work location is determined by role and business needs. In addition to our headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT, we have several satellite locations across the US. Senior leadership, administrative functions, and technology teams are typically assigned to work in one of our office locations. While this position will begin with a Remote/Work-From-Home designation, this position will work "In-Office" once a dedicated space in Nashville, TN is established.
