Job Title: Azure Cloud Consultant 

Department: Operations – Services

Reports To: RavenTek Program Manager

Location: Remote

Schedule: Monday – Friday

Hours: Full-time, 40-hours/week

FLSA Status: Salary, Exempt

Clearance: Secret 


Position Summary

The Azure Cloud Consultant plays a critical role in identifying and resolving issues within existing systems, designing and implementing new systems, and delivering technical upgrades or enhancements. This position involves participation in the analysis, design, and development of next-generation IT systems. The Azure Cloud Consultant bridges the gap between customer needs and the capabilities of commercially available IT and cybersecurity products, ensuring requirements are effectively communicated to the development, architecture, and engineering teams. The performance of this position is key to RavenTek’s performance on our contract, and therefore RavenTek’s mission to support the customer. 


Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and resolve issues in existing systems to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Design, develop, and implement new IT systems, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Perform technical upgrades and system refreshes to enhance functionality.
  • Participate in the analysis, design, and construction of next-generation IT systems.
  • Understand customer needs and align them with the capabilities of commercially available IT and cybersecurity products.
  • Develop and document requirements to support implementation by architecture and development teams.
  • Act as a systems engineering team lead for IT platforms, including Unix/Windows server operating systems.
  • Support functional security tools, hardware, and software O&M activities.
  • Design and implement cybersecurity solutions for next-generation IT systems.
  • Create enhancement requirements and design specifications for cybersecurity activities. 
  • Travel to the DMV area for work on-site at least 4 days a month.  
  • Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period. 
  • Monitor and respond to RavenTek email a minimum of 3 times per week. 
  • Complete required compliance training as assigned. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge and Critical Skills

  • Deep understanding of systems engineering principles, including analysis, design, and implementation of IT systems.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Windows server operating systems.
  • Expertise in identifying and resolving issues in IT and security systems.
  • Knowledge of commercially available IT and cybersecurity products.
  • Awareness of industry best practices for system upgrades, refreshes, and cybersecurity solutions.
  • Understanding of functional and technical requirements development processes.

Education & Work Experience

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. 
  • 4 years of experience in cloud architecture and engineering. 
  • Proven experience as a systems engineer, with demonstrated success in identifying and resolving IT system issues.
  • Experience acting as a team lead on IT platforms, including Unix and Windows server environments.
  • Hands-on experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining security tools and systems.
  • Experience in developing enhancement requirements and design specifications for IT and cybersecurity projects.
  • Familiarity with next-generation IT systems analysis and development.

Certifications, Licenses

  • Associate level Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700) and AWS Cloud Practitioner). 
  • Information Technology certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+ CE, CompTIA Network+ CE, CompTIA, Security+ CE, CompTIA Linux+ CE). 

Special Requirements

  • Secret clearance required.

Work Environment


Employee will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis. 


Physical Demands


To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; see to read printed materials and computer screens; mobility to work in a typical office setting. Ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and may be required to provide recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee must be able to lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically up to 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
