POSITION SUMMARY
As a key contributor on the GL Analysis team, this role is tasked with monthly comprehensive reviews of our resorts’ balance sheets and P&L to identify trends, explain variances, and address financial statement risks appropriately. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, maintaining a critical approach to problem-solving and the ability to build meaningful relationships across resorts and within Shared Services.
This position will report to the Manager, GL Analysis and will serve as a primary point of contact for resort senior leadership to Shared Services Accounting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for preparing the monthly resort financial analysis package for senior leadership across the Resorts and Shared Services; financial analysis package to include financial statements, variance and trend analyses, significant or unusual transactions, upcoming events, and other material financial information
- Accountable for the record to report process for assigned resorts and certification of all accounting tasks; supporting Resort and Shared Services finance teams with accurate data that reinforces data-driven decision making and ensuring financial results are in compliance with US GAAP
- Partner with Resort and Shared Services finance teams to update financial models with monthly actuals; providing flux analysis between forecasted and actual results; assisting with forecasting as needed
- Develop a thorough understanding of resorts’ strategic and operational plans by which annual performance is measured
- Engage in proactive research and resolution to unexplained reconciling items, defining and implementing process improvements as a result of solutions
- Own the initial onboarding of new of accounting tasks and processes, resulting from M&A or process standardization efforts, and operationalize these tasks into established procedures on the GL Operations team
- Participate in IT system implementation projects at various resorts serving as a SME for financial data and assisting with hyper care

- Participate in external audits as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
- Detailed understanding of US GAAP and experience in applying to various transactions and fact patterns
- Detailed understanding of shared services delivery models
- Proficient in use of technology, specifically Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required; preference towards accounting, finance or other related field
- CPA license preferred
Experience
- 2+ years of related accounting experience; a combination of public and industry-specific experience preferred
- Experience with financial system implementations is a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Blackline, or OneStream is a plus
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc.’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
Denver area base salary range: $80,000 - $112,000 per year
