Job Description

Nemours is seeking an HIM Verification Specialist to join our Nemours Children’s Health team.

This position is responsible for picking up, prepping, verifying & digitally categorizing documents into the electronic medical records via a variety of applications/systems to assure that clinical information is accurate and available for patient care in a timely manner.

NOTE: Associates that live greater than 50 miles from their assigned Nemours Home Office Site will not be required to participate in the mail pick-up task.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and classifies all incoming documents for scanning to the document management system (including email attachments, CD uploads, etc.).
  • Serves as primary data verification analysts, enters discrete data accurately and timely to support clinical decision making; and analyzes the specialty referrals and creates the consult orders to initiate the scheduling process.
  • Maintains standard of accuracy and productivity and actively proposes innovative ideas for efficiency and enhancements.
  • Demonstrates competency in the following: EMR, Optical Character Recognition application, Document Imaging Software; Microsoft Office Applications, and Rightfax.
  • Responsible for testing of upgrades and new applications.
  • Processes documentation directly from NemoursLink and messages from Care Everywhere.
  • Monitors all HIM email distributions (i.e., med photos, referrals, DHSS labs and child watch evaluations)
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of the HIM policies and reliable methods governing scanning and indexing.
  • Utilizes advanced technology to eliminate printing and redundancy of documents; and approaches problems with independent judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills that require logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
  • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination from other departments.
