About the Role:
As a Clinical Data Scientist/Mental Health Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in developing, validating, and optimizing gen AI models to support youth safety and mental health evaluation. Reporting to leadership within the Medical Operations team (Chief Medical Officer or Director, Clinical Product Integration), with a dotted line to the VP of Data Science, you will leverage your expertise in data science, gen AI, and mental health to create impactful, accurate, and scalable solutions. You will serve as the primary analyst for scientific outputs, collaborate with data engineering and product teams, and ensure the integration of cutting-edge insights into clinical applications. You will also oversee the development of research pipelines that emphasize rigorous, transparent, and reproducible methods. Day to Day:
- Develop and validate generative AI models for wellness initiatives, ensuring clinical relevance and scientific rigor.
- Act as the point person for data engineering and product teams, ensuring seamless integration of models into products and workflows.
- Serve as the primary analyst for scientific outputs, contributing to data-driven insights and analyses for internal and external audiences.
- Build and refine research pipelines that adhere to rigorous, transparent, and reproducible practices, ensuring consistency across analyses.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute data analyses for clinical and product-related research.
- Contribute to the writing and publication of peer-reviewed manuscripts by providing biostatistical expertise and data analysis.
What you bring to the table:
- Experience working with data at scale, performing cleaning, feature extraction and model training, testing and validation. Demonstrable knowledge of generative AI, prompt engineering and output validation / sanitization techniques.
- Experience working directly with product teams, especially in clinical or youth-focused healthcare environments.
- Foundational expertise in biostatistics, including study design, hypothesis testing, and interpreting clinical data.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and validate complex datasets with scientific rigor.
- Proven experience building research pipelines that prioritize transparency and reproducibility.
- A collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills to bridge data science, engineering, and product.
It would be great if you also had:
- Experience working with youth-focused datasets, including mental health or behavioral data related to adolescents.
- A track record of authoring peer-reviewed publications and contributing to scientific literature.
- Familiarity with data warehouses (e.g. Databricks), proficiency in python / pySpark including common machine learning toolkits, experience with model lifecycle tools (e.g MLflow) and statistical tools (e.g., R, SAS).
- Knowledge of child/adolescent psychology or experience addressing challenges in youth safety and well-being.
- An interest in contributing to academic writing, including grants, papers, and conference presentations.
