Media Coordinator: International sports portfolio

About the role : 

North Star Network are looking for an experienced media professional to oversee our international portfolio of sports sites including Afrik-Foot, Vringe and Soccernet.ng.

This is an exciting opportunity for a sports-mad editor or media manager to take responsibility for a diverse range of assets and collaborate with the central NSN team on media growth strategies.

Rich sports knowledge is essential, as well as a demonstrable recent track record of editorial leadership and overseeing growth in a web-focused environment.

As our Media Coordinator you will

● Develop and oversee an impactful/effective editorial line across multiple multi-platform (websites / social media) sports assets generating 4m sessions per month

● Adopt data-driven approach to content strategy & execution, evaluation of team performance

● Manage international teams of media professionals (journalists, social media) across English-speaking Africa and Europe, evaluating team quality and establishing further needs

● Define editorial plans & quality standards for our international portfolio (SEO, editorial)

● Define ideal publication rhythm and workflow to establish maximum potential of traffic through all distribution channels (organic, Discover, top stories, social, push)

● Lead the feedback loop: Analyse content performance, track editorial performance, act as point of contact between Paris Head Office and our international market team

Your profile should include:

● Extensive track record in sports media, having handled multiple sports and teams in different geos

● Experience managing diverse, hybrid sports media teams, demonstrable seniority, leadership skills and management capacity

● Comfortable managing budget to critically assess site performance against spend, take rational team/editorial/coverage decisions

● Up-to-date knowledge of where and how sports fans consume their media/editorial content in 2025

● Able to understand, transmit, execute the marriage of rich, authentic content and engaging, targeted execution

● Professional fluency in English, another language (particularly Russian) would be a bonus

Nice to have:

● Comfortable in the world of media analytics, tools (Search Console, Analytics, Looker Studio, Ahrefs, Google Trends)

● Track record of multi-platform audience growth

● Experience working in international context, specific expertise in Nigeria/English-speaking Africa a plus
