We are seeking an outstanding GIS Technician to join our team

Position Title: GIS Technician

Location: Remote - Latin America

What you will be doing:

We are seeking a GIS Technician to manage and maintain GIS data for pipelines, electrical lines, and other facilities. The role involves creating and updating GIS maps, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and collaborating with engineering and operations teams. Proficiency in ArcGIS, ArcMap, ESRI geodatabases, and spatial data formats such as CAD and Shapefiles is required.  Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Process master data for pipelines, electrical and telecommunications lines, and load it into enterprise systems​
  • Update the systems above when facilities and other features are modified, moved, or abandoned.​
  • Manage, load, and maintain other GIS features such as roads, waterways, biology (vegetation, wildlife, etc.), high consequence areas, management areas, etc.​
  • Work with engineering, operations, EH,S and other stakeholders to translate regulatory and internal requirements into fit-for-purpose standards for data collection and GIS maps delivery.  Develop GIS maps and products that conform to these requirements as needed.​
  • Provide customer support. Interact frequently with internal consumers of GIS maps across the company, to understand and address their business needs.


Requirements & Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should possess:
  • Strong familiarity with oilfield processes, facilities, and equipment types.​
  • Familiarity with the ArcGIS Desktop suite of applications.  Expertise with using ArcMap for data editing, data conversion, spatial referencing, joining or relating external data sources, and general geoprocessing functionality.​
  • Knowledge of ESRI geodatabases and feature classes. Ability to edit data in an ArcSDE enterprise geodatabase.​
  • Knowledge of coordinate systems and proper transformations between them​
  • Practical familiarity with AutoCAD.​
  • Ability to process multiple spatial formats such as CAD, KML, Shapefile and hand-drawn maps
