The Role
Currently, we are growing our engineering team and looking for someone with deep expertise in backend engineering with a foundational understanding across the stack. You’ll play a critical role in shaping our infrastructure and application experience for our technical audience. What You’ll do
- Own and deliver some of our most important initiatives
- Design and build reliable and maintainable features that our customers rely on
- Contribute to scalable and stable internal and external APIs and platforms
- Troubleshoot bottlenecks and improve application performance
- Coach peers, conduct code reviews, and share best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and engineers across the stack
- Present demos and own status updates on your projects
- Write documents for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Advocate for work that will have the greatest impact
The Successful Candidate
- Has 5+ years of professional experience, ideally building SaaS application back ends (or full stack with a backend focus), working on an application with thousands of (or more) end users
- Is experienced in leading technical and architectural decisions
- Has experience writing Clojure, Datomic, Postgres, and AWS with React and GraphQL frontends
- Is experienced working with the JVM stack, a LISP-based programming language, and/or Functional Programming patterns
- Has experience consistently with focusing on high-priority work and both keeping your team in the loop and asking good questions that help others improve
- Has experience collaborating effectively across product, design, and other engineering teams
- Has a track record of sharing ideas, being challenged, and working collaboratively and experimentally to reach shared company goals
- Is experienced and has eagerness to mentor others and improve our organization as a whole
- Has a practice of staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends
Extra Credit if You
- Have experience working in a distributed team
- Have expertise building GraphQL APIs
- Have experience with Datomic or related database technologies like DataScript, Datalevin, Datahike, XTDB, etc.
- Have experience with Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning applications including Large Language Models and Agents

- Work-From-Home: We are a fully remote company, and we provide all the equipment you need to work from home in addition to an annual WFH stipend. Starting with a $750 USD WFH stipend.
