Sales Manager - Mining Tire Group

Vernon, BC (Optional Remote)

 

Role Description

The Sales Manager – MTG will provide management of sales activity (product, services and value-added activities) to Canadian Mining Operations, affiliated contractors, equipment houses, engineering firms and the like.  The focus will be on establishing contractual supply and service agreements with existing and new mining opportunities.  This will require working closely with the MTG Operations Group Manager to ensure the spirit of customer contracts is recognized and achieved and new opportunities can be properly satisfied.  Overall, the MTG Sales Manager will be responsible for a healthy, profitable relationship with all current customers, identifying and pursuing qualified OTR sales opportunities, supporting the mining and OTR industries using the Kal Tire AIMS as a guide for conduct and expectations. 

 

Core Responsibilities 

Sales Management

  • Establish and manage contractual relationships with end-users in the Canadian mining industry.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy, professional relationship with all key and senior contacts within each end-user account, at the head office and site levels.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy and professional relationship with all key and senior contacts within the manufacturer / supplier group.
  • Participate in industry specific organizations and associations and conferences, for example:  CIM (national and chapter), Canadian Coal Association, Tire Industry Association, MineExpo.
  • Actively pursue, qualify and develop a working business relationship with potential new account opportunities.
  • Respond to all RFP’s and RFQ’s from existing accounts, new opportunities, mine development firms (e.g. engineering).
  • Communicate regularly with Operations Manager and involve, as required, in customer meetings to ensure consistent and accurate flow of information regarding site operations.

 

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Be fluent with, lead by example and support all aspects of Kal Tire’s Health & Safety Program throughout the MTG Operations.
  • Participate in CSR initiatives including understanding the customer’s requirements and ensuring operations are aware of required practices.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental goals and objectives.

 Training & Development

  • Be fluent with Kal Tire MTG Tire Technician training program in order to effectively communicate the benefits to end-users, existing and prospective.
  • Mentor new and less experienced sales individuals.
  • Participate in an overall Manpower Strategy for the MTG Operations – Planning, Recruiting, Retention and Succession Planning.

 

Standard of Service

  • Ensure a consistent Standard of Service is delivered to all customers per contract obligations and Kal Tire standards.

 Communication

  • Provide a monthly business condition report to the Regional Manager.
  • Establish communication requirements with each contract / end-user (e.g. monthly, quarterly, and annually).
  • Maintain a close line of communication with MTG Operations Manager, and site personnel.
  • Maintain a relationship with customer contacts at an operational and maintenance level on the mine sites.
  • Participate in industry functions such that an appropriate level of visibility and support is provided.
  • Spend time with other Sales Managers and their accounts to achieve a broader understanding of the various contracts, sites, customers, practices, etc. 

Policies & Procedures

  • Ensure all customers invoicing and accounts receivable are in order.  Work with Operations Manager on those issues where the customer’s head office influence is required for resolution.
  • Take all reasonable measures to ensure compliance with relevant Company, Customer or Governmental policies & procedures.

 

Technology

  • Incorporate Kal Tire’s technology into sales presentations, where appropriate, to enhance visibility and success in these areas (e.g. TireSight, Scales, Recycling, Kal Pro etc.).
  • Be proactive in understanding new technology in the market place that could aid in the tire maintenance process and provide added value to our customer.

 

Purchasing & Distribution

  • Maintain mine site profiles (existing and prospective accounts) to provide purchasing mechanism opportunity to secure adequate supply of product to meet end-user requirements.

 

Customer & Industry Knowledge

  • Ensure current and future needs of the customer are understood and an adequate supply of suitable goods and services are available when required.
  • Maintain a base of knowledge, including; mining industry knowledge, equipment knowledge, Tire Awareness presentations, current and future fleet sizes, manpower and equipment requirements, etc.

 

Retread & Repairing

  • Support a pro-active retread and/or repair program to extend tire life and thereby assist the customer in lowering their overall fleet costs.

 

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a sales role
  • Minimum 3 years’ sales experience, directly related to major asset purchases and contract management in the industrial sector (e.g. Mining, heavy construction, major manufacturing).

 

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of a wide variety of OTR tires, wheels, valve and wheel hardware and their proper application.
  • Excellent analytical, interpretive and computer skills (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Extensive knowledge of Kal Tire’s internal systems would be an asset.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal along with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment to identify and resolve problems.
  • Understands the core value of customer service and the key influences that drive value, increased revenue and service delivery improvement.
  • Ability to operate under pressure.
  • Able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines and targets.
  • Ability to apply constructive interpersonal skills.
  • Effective priority setting and decision making skills.

 

Education:

  • Degree or diploma in sales, marketing or industry specific degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrate successful participation in a formal sales training program.

 

Special Requirements:

  • Must be willing to travel.
