Platform & Technology Division has numerous teams dedicated to safeguarding positive gameplay experience and leveling the playing field to ensure fairness is the core responsibility of Blizzard’s Game Security Engineering Team. As a proven software engineer, you will shape the technology that protects our games and player experiences, demonstrating significant impact to teams across Blizzard! We work with all games and software platforms produced by Blizzard and are exposed to a mind-boggling array of technologies. The Team works on solutions involving everything from client/server communications to graphics engines and compilers to artificial intelligence. The world of anti-cheat services is ever-changing and necessitates our incorporation of the latest solutions to stay ahead in the game of cat-and-mouse.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.
Responsibilities:
Work with a small and talented team to develop scalable, highly performant platform services
Implement new features and services to support the needs of multiple teams
Participate in the ongoing effort to improve our platform infrastructure, with the goal of achieving ever increasing service availability
Develop unit and integration test code to validate service reliability
Requirements:
A degree in computer science, or a related field
A minimum of 3 year of relevant work experience
Ability to work in a collaborative environment
Good communication skills
Solid understanding of C++
Solid data-structure, logic, and algorithm skills
Experience with protocol and API design
Database development experience in one or more of the following: MySQL, Oracle, Cassandra, etc.
Self-motivated and able to break down complex tasks
A desire to help make the service the best that it can be for our players
Pluses:
Proficient in at least one scripting language such as Python
Familiarity with public cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure)
Linux development experience (server applications, gdb debugging, etc.)
Experience with cloud/virtualization/containerization technologies and infrastructure
Enthusiastic about supporting a live service
Familiarity with Blizzard Entertainment games and features, at least at a casual player level

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $37.26 - $68.93 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
