Job description

Purpose:

The HealthPlan App Engineering Team is hiring a Scrum Master to join their team. If you are Scrum Master who is looking for an opportunity in a team-oriented atmosphere and one where there is room for growth look no further! Fully remote opportunity working off core hours of 9:00-3:00 EST. Must work an 8-hour shift but be available in those core hours. Must be able to work East Coast hours.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the management team and senior staff, this intermediate level position requires a functional level of leadership of agile engineering teams. A ScrumMaster is has a working knowledge in agile practices, conflict resolution, communication, and building self-organizing teams. Typically, Scrum. Masters can lead two to four product teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing a team’s velocity, team health, etc. Will be working as an expert in the SM area and process alignment across the other Scrum teams.
  • Engaging and Coaching product teams to help them recognize the effectiveness of self-organization and continuous improvement
  • Accurately plan team capacity for specified iteration
  • Communicate trends within the team and facilitate discussion for sharing wins and problem areas
  • Maintain Team Dashboard for daily monitoring of sprint progress and drive adjustments for sprint success
  • Work closely with Product Owners to properly scope and plan current and future work
  • Actively work with the team to remove impediments, or finding the right people to remove them
  • Build a safe and trusting environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judge.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership and management to help drive team success
  • Process Utilizes broad knowledge of agile frameworks (not just Scrum) to help transform the team into a high performing group
  • Coaches and obtains buy-in of the team on best practices for agile software development
  • Embraces and practices continuous improvement
  • Reports team metrics, successes, improvements, challenges, and opportunities to engineering leadership
  • *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • *Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field from an accredited university or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • ScrumMaster Certification from a recognized organization such as ScumAlliance, Scrum.org, or ICAgile preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team through continuous improvement to a state of high performance
  • Typically, at least one year (preferred-2 years) as a ScrumMaster and 3+ years (preferred-1 year) in the software development industry-
  • Demonstrates a working understanding of the fundamental tools and concepts of agile processes (not just Scrum) and how to apply them to improve team performance
  • Ability to operate independently

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Microsoft Azure or JIRA
  • Healthcare knowledge-Previous UPMC Work Experience
  • Has held a previous Scrum Master role
