A Brief Overview

The Director H&W Benefits US is responsible for the design, implementation, and communication of the US health and welfare and wellbeing benefits strategy, ensuring the benefit programs are competitive, sustainable, and meet all legal requirements. Works closely with benefits vendors to evaluate their programs/offering with an emphasis on continuous process improvement.

What You Will Do

  • Manages all aspects of administration and operations for employee health and welfare benefit plans for the US, Mexico, and Bermuda,
  • Leads open enrollment annual process for all US plans, as well as off-cycle enrollment for new benefits. This includes the preparation and testing process and preparation and delivery of communications to current and former employees.
  • Manages implementation of benefit program and vendor changes in support of Americas benefits strategy.
  • Manges process for intake and response to employee and retiree questions, including serving as subject matter expert on complex questions.
  • Leads in the development and production of materials for the US Benefits. Committee on subjects relating to US health and welfare plans, including making benefit program change recommendations.
  • Leads H&W benefits communication process for employees, including written communications, new hire benefits orientations, employee handbook and other intranet site resources
  • Manages 5500s and ensures SARs are distributed timely. Ensures compliance with federal and state benefit regulations; ERISA, IRS, DOL, 409A, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA.
  • Manages benefit consultants, vendors, carriers and attorneys supporting operations related to US, Mexico, and Bermuda H&W benefit plans.
  • Manages miscellaneous operational processes for US benefits administration, including monitoring file feeds to benefit vendors, completing bi-weekly payroll reconciliation process, reviewing and resolving error reports, managing H&W invoicing process, managing ACA process with payroll vendor, and producing live benefit events.
  • Contributes thought leadership toward US, Mexico, and Bermuda wellbeing strategy including creation of the quarterly Wellbeing Newsletter and scheduling monthly wellness lunch & learns, and changes to program design as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent related work experience
  • 8+ Years benefits experience

Preferred

  • Global benefits experience preferred
  • Prior benefits or human resource generalist experience preferred

  • Intermediate Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Advanced knowledge of ERISA, HIPPA, COBRA, FMLA, Health Care Reform, ACA and other benefit related regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of welfare benefit plans including, Section 125 plans and qualified and non-qualified plans
  • Advanced ability to work well within a team. Highly advanced skills in managing multiple tasks and leading projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced persuasion skills when working with internal and external partners to resolve issues/problems
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate difficult decisions, explain complex issues and handle negative feedback/reactions
  • Advanced skills in conflict resolution, handling face-to-face confrontations, mediating groups and achieving positive results
  • Advanced ability to investigate, analyze and solve complex problems/issues. Advanced ability to analyze and improve business processes
  • Advanced skills in implementing change, ensuring understanding, participation and ownership
  • Advanced skills in translating business needs and problems into viable and accepted solutions
  • Advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines

Compensation Range

$104,350.00 - $155,350.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
