We are looking for an Engineer in Training, Distribution to perform engineering activities related to distribution and telecommunication projectsIf you’re passionate about design engineering and looking for a role with strong leadership support and growth potential, we encourage you to apply! 

 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Review and develop detailed design drawing, plans and specifications for new installations, additions, upgrades, and enhancements from Design Build Companies. Assist in specifying and procuring material. Prepare work packages.     

  • Ensure all applicable engineering, industry and ENMAX Corporation standards, codes, regulations, and public safety are applied in designs. 

  • Review all prepared documents with a Professional Engineer. 

  • Work with coordinators and field crews to ensure work packages are understood. Assist in the development and maintenance of construction standards.   

  • Investigate and troubleshoot problems and provide engineering solutions as required 

  • Follow established practices to create and monitor project scope, schedule, budget, and quality, and provide reporting.  

  • Identify and assist in implementation of process improvements. 

  • Prepare quotes for distribution scopes of work. 

  • Provide exceptional customer service by proactively managing client expectations and resolving technical and project issues in a timely manner. 

 

Education Required: 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering 

  • Registered as an Engineer in Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geo-scientists of Alberta (APEGA)  

 

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • 1+ years of Distribution Engineering experience  

  • Knowledge of the technical requirements of overhead and underground distribution design 

  • Knowledge of the technical requirement of overhead line permitting 

  • Knowledge of overhead distribution design using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE would be an asset  

  • Utility Industry knowledge 

  • Medium and high voltage protection systems knowledge 

  • Consulting Engineering knowledge

  • Ability to identify issues, gather relevant information from various sources and stakeholders, and take prudent action  

  • Able to understand the financial impact of technical decisions 

  • Organizational skills to manage multiple projects with a high level of attention to detail

Salary: Engineer in Training Level A (Current CUPE 2025 rates) 

$81,593.69 - $86,692.06 - $91,790.43 - $96,888.79 - $101,987.16 

 

Location:This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
