About the Client: 

Bydee was born of a love of detail and design at our Founder’s family kitchen bench in her teens. Ever the creative, learning to sew came naturally. “It was my Mum who made sure my sister and I knew how to make our clothes and costumes,” Dessy says.


Market-grown and now the head of a close-knit team, Dee's favourite part of the creative process remains all about the detail. Drawing inspiration from her travels, each new collection is designed to transport our Bydee Babes to their dream destination.

Dee, known to most as Dessy Hairis, Creative Director and Founder of Bydee, formed the brand in its initial iteration in 2013. Stimulated by a swimwear obsession and her Mediterranean roots, Bydee has evolved from a market stall to an internationally recognised brand.

Making the transition to the Sydney market scene once Bydee was born gave Dessy a keen eye for trends and a strong customer base. “In the early days, I would stitch my customers into their pieces while they were standing in front of me. It gave me such great insight into what our customers wanted, from styles through to design details.”

Nowadays, Bydee and Dessy have moved on from sleepless nights sewing at a kitchen table to a close-knit team of passionate creatives sharing the same vision and evolving with the brand. Dessy is now lucky enough to travel around the world gathering inspiration and shooting new collections – in essence, living her dream of being the Creative Director for Bydee!



Job Summary: 

Reporting directly to the General Manager & CFO, this role will oversee the company's
day to day financial operations. The role is a general finance role, encompassing all financial aspects to support the business as they enter their next phase of growth. The role would suit a finance professional that can manage the day to day responsibilities whilst supporting with analysis, reporting and compliance with relevant tax laws.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Purchase Order Management: Ensure purchase orders are entered into the system and matched to invoices when received. This will require closely working with production and completing factory reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • End-of-Month (EOM) Close Support: Manage the EOM close process, ensuring that all financial information is accurately compiled including making all necessary adjustments. This includes maintaining an updated balance sheet reconciliation file and reviewing with the CFO on a monthly basis.
  • General Ledger Ownership: Manage and maintain the integrity of the General Ledger, in line with the budget and commercial knowledge of the business.
  • Sales Reporting: Prepare and manage daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports, providing analysis to the GM and CFO to support business strategy and performance tracking.
  • Management Accounts Review & Variance Analysis: Review monthly accounts and support the CFO in providing variance analysis to support in decision-making and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Commercial Analysis: As the business grows there are ad hoc analysis tasks that would assist the business in decision-making that would form part of the role. The includes but is not limited to freight recovery, duties and taxes etc.
  • Tax Compliance: Assist the CFO in maintaining tax compliance for the business. This includes but isn’t limited to running reports, filling out necessary documents, prepare supporting tax schedules and maintaining reconciliations. This also includes collaborating with tax professionals in each region, to ensure compliance with relevant global tax laws.
  • Financial Controls and Process Improvement: Assist in  implementing process improvements to strengthen financial controls and efficiency across the finance function.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to support financial planning, provide insights, and ensure financial alignment across all business units.


Requirements
  • Qualified Accountant (CA or CPA)
  • Can demonstrate commercial business acumen and experience within product business preferably fashion retail
  • Strong technical accounting skills and experience, including month-end and variance analysis.
  • Held a similar role for 1-2 years.
  • Proficient in financial and data analysis, with exceptional communication and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in Xero and MS Excel is required; experience with Peoplevox (warehouse scanning system), and Inventory Planner is preferred.
  • Experience managing global business finance requirements.
  • Proven ability to handle day-to-day client interactions and act as the primary point of contact.
  • Capability to oversee outsource bookkeepers handling tasks such as bank reconciliation, payment runs, cash management, and payroll.
  • Familiarity with online swimwear, resort wear, and jewelry businesses (client: Bydee, Australia) is a bonus.
  • Comfortable using Slack for communication.
  • Reliable internet connection with Fiber Optic (minimum 25 Mbps).
  • Backup desktop or laptop with the latest operating system.
  • Must be able to work on a shifting schedule.
