We are currently seeking a customer-facing, hands-on technologist with a track record of success to join us in one of Cloudera’s most successful and fastest growing locations - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
A Day in the Life
Knocking down technical barriers to the adoption of Cloudera’s products is the main responsibility of a Solutions Engineer at Cloudera. This includes being the technical part of the sales team focused on presenting Cloudera’s technology to help solve customers’ business problems. Another critical part of the role is ensuring the success of existing customers, along with expanding the usage of
Cloudera’s technology by discovering additional use cases within a customer’s organisation. This is a hands-on technologist role, you’ll not just be presenting powerpoint, you’ll be architecting enterprise data solutions for large organisations.
As a Solutions Engineer, you will:
● Work with customers, partners, and prospects to understand and propose solutions using
Cloudera technologies
● Manage the technical sales process for numerous customers
● Map customer requirements to current and future Cloudera offerings
● Own the technical sales process from introductory meetings with prospective new customers through post-sales (customer satisfaction, upselling, and subscription renewals)
● Educate prospects on the business value of Cloudera’s offerings
● Drive progress towards successful sales, in alignment with Account Executives
● Focus on customer satisfaction and success
● Continuously learn and update skills in quickly evolving technologies
● Work as part of a unified team, sharing knowledge and supporting not just your pre-sales colleagues, but also Sales, Services, Marketing, R&D, Support and others.
We’re excited about you if you have:
● Minimum 5 years experience and success working in a customer-facing technical role
● A University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
● Experience seeing the entire lifecycle from gathering and understanding business requirements to design to technology evaluation to pilot program to implementation to production maintenance and support
● Confidence working with customers and public speaking on Cloudera’s vision, proposed architectures and business outcomes to all levels
● Ability to switch context quickly throughout the day with numerous competing demands
Technical Skills:
● Ability to be technically hands-on and have a problem solving personality
● Unix/Linux expertise including solid OS and networking fundamentals
● Experience with data warehousing and relational database technology and architectures
(including SQL development and optimization)
● Knowledge of distributed systems, ETL and ETL workflows
● Knowledge of network and data security concepts
● Foundational experience with Java / OO programming, Python or other scripting languages
● Experience with Spark, Kafka, Flink, Hive, Impala and other open source projects
● Familiarity with public cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP)
● Experience with Kubernetes
● Foundational experience with DevOps or MLOps
Other Requirements:
● Fluent in English (spoken and written)
● Fluent in Bahasa Malay (spoken and written)
● This role is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
You might also have:
● Experience working with distributed systems, data analytics, and previous Hadoop experience
● Experience with streaming messaging systems and patterns

● The fallacies of distributed computing
● System administration knowledge
