The Opportunity
The AVP, Product Management Executive is responsible for managing the P&L for multiple complex, high-value products, ensuring business plan expectations are achieved with additional focus on expense management and end-to-end customer experience. Directly responsible for leading significant growth in one of USAA’s most important portfolios. Works collaboratively with Marketing, Finance, Risk Management, Legal, Information Technology, Operations and the Distribution Sales and Services groups to deliver industry leading product offerings that support and advance the business model, meets marketing and operations objectives, and that meets Member needs and drives profitability.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position will be based in San Antonio, TX.
What you’ll do:
Manages the P&L and accountable for ensuring business plan expectations are achieved with a focus on growing Membership and driving profitability.
Accountable for overall management of the product set (feature/functionality) for appropriateness of financials, marketing strategy, market competitiveness, Member Experience, regulatory compliance, risk management, as well as efficiency of operation and technology delivery.
Responsible for keeping abreast with industry standards and benchmark data; serves as the expert with respect to the competitive landscape.
Develops strong interactions and communications to report on the health and overall status of the product portfolio and provides to senior and executive leadership team, Board and external partners, as applicable.
Works collaboratively across Product, Marketing, Finance, Credit Risk Management, Legal, Information Technology, Operations, and the Distribution Sales and Services groups to deliver an industry leading product offering that drives strong profitability growth across USAA.

Develops talent to deliver risk-conscious performance and results – including the identification, development and retention of talent with requisite capabilities, banking regulatory skill requirements and continued advancement of banking regulatory standards.
Identifies, prioritizes, and launches innovative products that drive business and customer value; optimizes product mix, leveraging segmentation to drive profit, Member satisfaction, and retention.
Manages plan for growing products through the creation and implementation of an effective segmentation strategy, including product profitability, service standards, and lifecycle management.
Holds responsibility for communicating the product value proposition to Distribution organization.
Ensures product team delivers sales support to all distribution channels (e.g., .com, mobile, contact center) so that the product is properly positioned to customers (sales tool and collateral development, sales training, etc.).
Manages 3rd Party Relationships (IT, 3rd products, and alliances).
Accountable for managing results by establishing a business model based on fundamental drivers and following the data, maximizing efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the goals can be ambiguous and the process fluid.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the best interest of the company, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Statistics, or related discipline; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
10 or more years of experience as a Product Management, Digital Transformation, Data Science or Visualization leader for products/platforms, from strategy to market, to ongoing improvements within the Financial Services industry.
6 or more years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams.
Deep understanding of product P&L and high level of fluency in MV (member value) and ROI drivers; demonstrated track record in balancing product priorities against budget and timelines; a sense of urgency in driving execution; entrepreneurial spirit and excitement of developing products from an early stage.
Highly analytical with experience leveraging different types of data to form hypotheses, test those hypotheses and ultimately build a recommended strategy.
Strong strategic thinker with track record of developing and implementing strategies that thoughtfully consider and balance industry and competitive dynamics, customer insights and commercial implications.
Demonstrated experience and comfort working with ambiguity and a rapidly changing dynamic environment; thrives in fast-paced environment.
Experience managing the P&L, leading the overall product strategy, developing, and executing the product roadmap and achieving all related business goals (product line growth, ROI), for a designated product or group of products.
Comprehensive knowledge of risk management best practices, to include identification, resolution, and implementation of risk mitigation solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communications; ability to influence without authority, working on/with technical and cross-functional or highly matrixed teams who do not report into this role to get things done.
Deep understanding and extensive experience in applying Agile methodology.
What sets you apart:
The salary range for this position is: $195, 230.00 - $351,410.00.
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
