Job description

The Job

As a Packaging Engineer at stichd you are creating and developing effective designs to create packaging that’s functional, cost effective and fits a projects brief. This involves generating ideas and concepts in collaboration with our Creative Marketing department, testing different designs and working closely with our manufacturing partners to secure the manufacturing process, and reviewing the efficiency of the final packaging. Our Packaging Engineer is a creative problem-solver who can overcome design’s potential obstacles. You are a great communicator who work well as part of a team and can spot potential pitfalls in a design.

Your Mission

  • Develop and refine packaging concepts and dielines aligned with finalized products or materials, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to assess packaging requirements at all phases of development.
  • Ensure packaging artworks meet pre-press and supplier specifications.
  • Conduct consumer and industry research to incorporate trends, pricing structures, and potential challenges into the designs.
  • Create and maintain documentation in compliance with engineering protocols and regulations, ensuring alignment with company policies and values.
  • Update and manage packaging-related information in the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system, including sharing the finalized packaging BOMs to our manufacturing partners.
  • Review packaging designs and dielines for functionality and manufacturability.
  • You will work closely with our manufacturing partner by providing technical guidance and support throughout the production process.

Your Talent

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, or similar) with 5+ years of experience in a related role, ideally in the sports-lifestyle industry or an international organization with a global brands.
  • Proven expertise in structural and graphic packaging design, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator). Familiarity with CAD tools is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in managing packaging development cycles from concept to production, including pre-press and supplier interactions.
  • You are the trouble-shooter for issues as they arise, pro-active and a self-starter that is highly motived to work in a fast-paced growing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Innovative and solutions-focused mindset with the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating technical details into clear messages for diverse stakeholders. You are fluent in English

This role is based in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. Working remotely from other countries is not possible. To be considered for this position, you must be legally authorized to work in the Netherlands without the need for a work permit.
