As a Business Unit within ENMAX, ENMAX Power (EPC) applies an Integrated Incident Management approach, as part of our Operational Resilience Program, to mitigate impacts from all business disruptions categories, including emergency response, service recovery, business continuity, and crisis communications.  

 

The Business Continuity Specialist will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and performance of EPC’S Operational Resilience Program and its supporting functions. 

 
Major Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the development and/or maintenance of incident management related documentation, training, and reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal standards program 

  • Train members of the Incident Management Team on the Incident Command System (ICS) 

  • Provide technical assistance and subject matter expertise to the ENMAX’s Policy, Strategic Issues, Risk Management or Incident Management Teams during an incident, as required 

  • Design and facilitate exercises to ensure members of the organization’s Incident Management Team (IMT) are proficient in their respective roles 

  • Conduct post-incident reviews to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement 

  • Research current and emerging risks to ensure learning activity scenarios remain relevant and learners can address future emergencies 

  • Develop and maintain mutual aid agreements and service agreements to ensure/enhance continuity of operations 

  • Build and sustain productive working relationships with internal teams, external agencies, government, regulators, and service providers 

  • Coordinate with other business units to align incident management programs and related activities across ENMAX 

  • Coordinate with internal and external partners during incidents 

  • Assist with root cause analysis and investigations as needed 

  • Participate in on-call rotations and support ENMAX during non-standard working hours, as required 
     

Education: 

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Emergency Management, Business and/or Business Continuity, or an equivalent level of education and experience 

  • Certified in ICS Canada courses, or equivalent 

 

Experience: 

  • 5-7 years' experience leading or supporting incident management, business continuity, emergency response, crisis communications, or similar business disruption management processes  

  • Experience implementing and maintaining International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Management Systems (i.e. ISO 22301) 

  • Direct experience applying the methodology and principles of the Incident Command System (ICS), preferable ICS Canada’s framework  

  • Experience designing, developing and delivering in-house training programs for adult learners 

  • Professional certification is considered an asset 

  • Hands-on expertise in Exercise Design 

  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action programs 

  • Utility knowledge/experience as well as any Professional certifications are considered an asset

  • Ability to lead and support change initiatives, driving continuous improvement while fostering a culture of adaptability and innovation 

  • Strong attention to detail, multi-tasking and time management skills 

  • Proven statistical and quantitative abilities and/or data management skills 

  • Enthusiastic, self-driven and able to work independently or as a strong team player

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
