The Job:

Buildertrend is seeking a talented Product Designer to join our team and help shape our project management software designed for home builders and remodelers. In this role, you’ll create impactful product solutions for well-defined challenges, leveraging existing knowledge and conducting user research to deepen your understanding of problem spaces and solutions. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our platform not only meets but exceeds user needs.

Our Product Designers thrive in a culture that values constructive conflict over comfort, flexibility balanced with persistence, and a proactive approach to collaboration. You’ll partner with other designers, your design lead, product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver exceptional experiences for our users.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with product managers and developers to create user-centric solutions.
  • Conduct user research with Buildertrend customers to identify gaps, inform design decisions, and refine problem definitions.
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and strategy leaders to tackle complex design challenges.
  • Develop tailored solutions that balance user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.
  • Validate your designs through prototyping and user research activities.
  • Provide pragmatic support to developers during implementation to address challenges efficiently.
  • Iteratively refine released solutions based on user feedback and performance.
  • Work with your Design Lead and Product Manager to align with our experience vision and grow your design skills (both technical and interpersonal).
  • Contribute actively to the Product Design team by sharing your work for feedback and providing thoughtful critiques on your teammates’ work.

Who You Are and What You Need:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent professional experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience in product design, demonstrated by a strong portfolio showcasing relevant projects.
  • Proficiency in executing the entire product design process—from research and ideation to wireframing, prototyping, and user testing.
  • Expertise with Figma or comparable design tools.
  • Experience conducting user research, including interviews and usability testing, and effectively presenting findings.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, enabling you to work effectively with team members at all levels.
  • Familiarity with various UX design deliverables, including Rapid prototypes, User stories, Concept sketches and storyboards, Information architecture, Interaction design, and Interface (UI) design.
  • Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

We Are Giving You:

  • Exceptional health packages, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus life insurance and short- and long-term disability benefits.
  • A 401(k) plan with Buildertrend matching contributions to help you plan for the future.
  • Generous paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 6 personal days to make sure you have time to recharge.
  • Parental leave and paid sabbaticals to support you during life’s big moments.
  • Volunteer time off – because giving back matters.
  • Wellness program and onsite fitness center to keep you feeling your best.
  • Opportunities for hybrid or remote work to give you the flexibility you need.
  • Technology reimbursement to help cover costs for the tech you need to do your job from home.
  • Occasional free lunches and monthly events to connect with your team.
