About the Opportunity:

At NewCo, we’re constantly reimagining what’s possible in our industry—creating disruptively simple, powerfully clear ways to maximize our clients’ financial outcomes today and drive down healthcare costs tomorrow. As part of the Software Engineering department, you will be expected to drive the technical implementation of TrueCost, NewCo’s advanced Payment Integrity product, for our new clients. This role involves direct coding, troubleshooting, and integration, with a focus on high-quality, scalable development. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in C#, CSS, React, and SQL to build, customize, and optimize client solutions while working closely with our technical teams to ensure consistent delivery of impactful, reliable software.

What you’ll do:

  • Be a top contributor to the TrueCost implementation process by developing, coding, and customizing features directly to fit client specifications.
  • Build and refine interfaces using React and CSS, ensuring an intuitive and seamless user experience.
  • Develop backend components in C# and SQL, ensuring that data flows smoothly and accurately within the client’s infrastructure.
  • Conduct code reviews for pull requests to ensure adherence to best practices, code quality, and alignment with ticket acceptance criteria.
  • Debug, test, and troubleshoot code, ensuring a high standard of performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with QA and product teams to ensure alignment on feature functionality, testing standards, and deployment readiness.
  • Maintain and update implementation documentation, with a focus on coding standards, structure, and best practices.
  • Mentor junior developers on the team, fostering a culture of clean, maintainable code and efficient problem-solving.
Qualifications

What experience you bring (Role Requirements):  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in software development, with a proven track record in C#, CSS, React, and SQL.
  • Strong ability to write and optimize SQL queries and manage databases in SQL Server or other relational databases.
  • Proficiency in developing robust web applications using C# and React, with experience creating scalable and maintainable front-end and back-end systems.
  • Exceptional debugging skills and a systematic approach to solving complex technical issues.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data and analytics solutions is a plus.

Expectations:

  1. Own enforcing the PR review process, coding guidelines, and other processes that the team has outlined.

Success Criteria for the First 3 Months:

  1. Understanding the Role
    • Develop a strong understanding of the TrueCost implementation process, including workflows and tools such as C#, .NET, React, SQL, and REST APIs.
    • Familiarize yourself with the existing codebase, client specifications, and integration requirements.
    • Understand business goals, client needs, and system requirements for ongoing projects.
  2. Building Relationships
    • Begin establishing effective communication with team members, QA, and product teams.
    • Actively participate in team meetings, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
    • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment on technical implementations.
  3. Time and Priorities Management
    • Develop effective time management strategies to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Successfully complete at least one assigned project or feature with minimal guidance, focusing on tasks such as back-end development (e.g., SQL optimization) or front-end refinement (React and CSS).
  4. Feedback and Growth
    • Receive initial feedback on your performance and use it to refine your approach and improve your contributions.
    • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to client-specific challenges.
  5. Confidence and Comfort
    • Gain confidence in your abilities through hands-on coding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
    • Start to feel comfortable navigating the implementation process and your role within the team.

Success Criteria for the First Year:

  1. Mastery of Responsibilities
    • Fully master the tasks and responsibilities of the Staff Engineer role, executing them with confidence and efficiency.
    • Consistently deliver high-quality, scalable, and reliable code that aligns with client specifications and business goals.
    • Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable architecture for key client solutions.
  2. Building a Strong Network
    • Establish a strong network of interdepartmental relationships and be recognized as a key collaborator within the team.
    • Take an active role in code reviews and mentoring, providing guidance to peers and junior developers.
  3. Greater Responsibility
    • Be entrusted with greater responsibilities, such as leading technical implementations for multiple client projects.
    • Suggest and implement technology improvements or optimizations to enhance application performance, maintainability, or user experience.
  4. Career Progression and Development
    • Identify and pursue opportunities for career progression and personal development.
    • Document and share knowledge through tools like Confluence and JIRA, ensuring continuity and transparency.
    • Contribute to refining Agile processes and improving team workflows.

    • Be a trusted resource for resolving complex technical challenges and ensuring the success of client implementations.

Pay range: $140,000 - $160,000 USD

This is an exempt position. For Salary positions only: The salary range is for Base Salary. Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geographic location.
