Job description

About Morning Consult:
Morning Consult is a global decision intelligence company changing how modern leaders make smarter, faster, better decisions. The company pairs its proprietary high-frequency data with rigorous analysis to better inform decisions on what people think and how they will act.

This role is available in any of our office locations (Washington, DC; New York, NY; Chicago, IL) or can be based remotely.

Our award-winning and modern, open concept offices are located in Washington, DC, Chicago, IL and New York, NY. All three offices are accessible by public transportation and in close proximity to great restaurants and shopping.

Join us in the office lunch on Tuesdays and Wednesdays or grab a beverage from the fridge for an impromptu after-work happy hour!

The Role:
As a Product Director at Morning Consult, you'll lead a team of passionate and talented Product Managers responsible for the Morning Consult Intelligence (MCI) platform, and help define and drive the vision for our next phase of growth. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you’ll partner with Engineering, Customer Success, Sales and other key stakeholders to define and prioritize problems to solve. Additional responsibilities include long-term roadmap planning, competitive analysis, defining KPIs and go-to-market strategy. Your success will ultimately be measured by your ability to drive meaningful business outcomes.

You’ll also be responsible for the professional growth and development of individual Product Managers, and help evolve our product culture and practices. Successful candidates will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and will be empowered to take ownership, bias to action and make calculated tradeoffs. As a leader, you’ll have an opportunity to meaningfully influence our products, our organization and the overall success of Morning Consult.

Since 2017, Morning Consult has fielded over 80M surveys, building a proprietary dataset of global consumers and their attitudes towards brands, the economy and politics around the world. Morning Consult Intelligence (MCI) provides our customers with access to this data and transforms the way leaders make decisions.

The Product & Engineering Team at Morning Consult:
The Product & Engineering Team at Morning Consult thrives on collaboration and innovation. We are a small, closely-knit group of high performers dedicated to building products that customers value. We are responsible for defining product vision and strategy, prioritizing initiatives for maximum impact and seamless communication with stakeholders and client-facing roles. And we ultimately measure ourselves by the impact we have on Morning Consult’s success as a company. By joining our team, you’ll be part of an environment that values your insights and elevates your contributions.

What You'll Be Working On:
  • Defining and communicating a clear product vision and strategy aligned with customer needs and business objectives. Holding teams accountable for delivering meaningful, efficient and measurable impact
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive relevant go-to-market efforts
  • Clearly communicating goals, priorities and outcomes to teams and stakeholders, including executive leadership
  • Working hand-in-hand with Engineering and UX leadership, constantly staying aligned on priorities, challenges and adjustments
  • Managing and mentoring Product Managers (PMs), supporting professional growth and core skill development. Empowering PMs to take ownership of their areas of focus and hone their leadership skills
  • Building and maintaining first-hand knowledge of our customers via Sales / CSM calls, recordings and direct customer interactions
  • Staying informed on industry trends, competitor activities and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation
  • When necessary, evolving product practices and processes to improve collaboration, efficiency and outcomes

  • About You and What You've Done:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in SaaS product management, including leadership roles
  • Track record of positive business impact (revenue, retention, etc.)
  • Proven track record of managing and mentoring product teams in fast-paced environments
  • Experience working with in-house UX and Engineering teams in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in customer interaction, balancing empathy with business objectives
  • Experience with data products (specifically survey data) is a significant plus
  • Analytical mindset with a passion for leveraging data to drive decision-making
  • Open and collaborative style; comfortable working in an environment where ideas are shared and challenged
  • Willing to take feedback, learn and grow; an ethos of continuous self-improvement
  • Note: We view the above section as a guide, not a checklist. Research shows that underrepresented/marginalized groups are less likely to apply for a job if they feel that they don’t meet 100% of the qualifications. We welcome diverse and non-traditional backgrounds and encourage you to apply even if you don’t satisfy every single bullet on this list! It’s expected that you’ll learn and grow throughout your time at Morning Consult, so if you’re open to building new skills, we’d love to hear from you.

The expected salary range for this position is $146,300 - $243,400 with a midpoint of $194,900.

In most cases, we target the midpoint of our salary ranges for new hire compensation. This placement is reflective of full proficiency in a role. This role is eligible for an equity grant, which will be discussed in your initial recruiter conversation. Please see an overview of Morning Consult’s benefits on our Career Page.

We are committed to a work environment that is inclusive to all and free of discrimination. It is our policy to be an equal opportunity employer without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic predisposition or carrier status, veteran status, citizenship status or any other factors prohibited by law.
