About the Role
Are you passionate about weather forecasting and eager to make an impact in a dynamic, client-focused environment? As a Meteorologist at StormGeo, you’ll specialize in providing timely and accurate weather information to our clients while growing your expertise. This role is ideal for early- to mid-career professionals looking to enhance their skills and contribute to real-world decisions in a collaborative setting.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver High-Quality Forecasts: Provide accurate, professional weather forecasts and alerts in compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Client Support: Respond promptly to client requests via phone or email, including scheduled briefings and urgent inquiries.
- Weather Analysis: Evaluate weather models, satellite imagery, and radar products to ensure precision in forecasts.
- 24/7 Monitoring: Conduct continuous metwatching for clients who subscribe to this service level.
- Detailed Reporting: Document end-of-shift summaries, highlighting weather conditions, forecast updates, and model differences.
- Collaboration: Coordinate weather products with internal teams and provide support across operations as needed.
- Professional Development: Complete training to become a qualified watch-stander and participate in ongoing learning opportunities.
- Client Understanding: Develop a basic knowledge of clients' operations, preferences, and specific challenges.
- Teamwork and Adaptability: Maintain a positive attitude, contribute to a supportive work environment, and embrace change.
Core Requirements
- Educational Background: A B.S. degree in Meteorology, a related physical science, or equivalent military experience.
- Experience: Less than 7 years of weather forecasting experience in military, government, or commercial organizations.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Windows PC software, including Microsoft Office; experience with meteorological tools is a plus.
- Work Schedule: Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including irregular hours for meetings or operational needs.
- Team Collaboration: A professional and collegial approach, open to feedback and differences of opinion.
