Responsibilities
As the VP of Construction you will oversee the execution and delivery of renewable energy construction projects in Zelestra’s US business unit. You will oversee the end-to-end management of projects, ensuring they are completed within budget, on schedule, and in compliance with environmental and safety regulations. This role requires exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and coordination skills, as well as a deep understanding of renewable energy technologies and construction practices
Team Leadership: Leading a team of construction managers and site management staff , offering support to ensure on-time and within-budget project delivery. Proficiency in remote team leadership, coaching, and skills development is crucial. The role also involves serving as an escalation point for problem-solving and providing guidance to maintain operational efficiency
Partnership Management: Acting as the company's liaison with all contractors throughout the construction phase. Balancing the relationship and performance management aspects is critical. Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional relationship-building skills are necessary for successful collaboration and high-standard project delivery
Construction Management: Taking responsibility for all construction activities, evaluating risks, and implementing mitigation measures (e.g., technical studies, ground investigations). Expertise in project and company documentation is essential.
Accountability: In-depth knowledge of contracts and a commitment to ensuring both the business and partners meet all EPC Agreement requirements. Holding accountability for the master program, construction risk register, and budget management and reporting, and utilizing these tools to ensure accountability among oneself, the team, and partners.
Building for Scale: Contributing substantial expertise to help the business develop processes, tools, and capabilities across the organization to meet ambitious growth targets. Sharing lessons learned post-project, defining best practices, and using technology to enhance team efficiency
Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategic plans to ensure efficient construction project execution oversight, including cost control, resource allocation, scheduling, risk mitigation, and quality assurance.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering teams, procurement, legal, finance, local government officials, landowners, and others to ensure smooth project execution and timely resolution of any issues or challenges.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards. Implement proactive safety measures and protocols to protect personnel and assets.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
Proven experience (15+ years) in construction project management, with a focus on renewable energy projects.
Strong knowledge and understanding of renewable energy technologies, construction practices, and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) processes.
Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop a diverse team.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality projects.
Proficiency in project management software/tools and a solid understanding of project management methodologies.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
Proven track record of successfully delivering projects within budget, on time, and in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
