Job Summary:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced sales professional to make a positive impact on patient lives. As the Business Development Manager for the Brisbane and Northern Queensland territory, you will be at the forefront of accelerating sales growth and developing long-term relationships in the medical cannabis industry. With a product portfolio spanning the Broken Coast, Redecan, Good Supply and Tilray Medical brands, your commercial mindset and clinical acumen set you apart, and you thrive on challenging the status quo in competitive environments. Your drive to succeed is complemented by a passion for patient outcomes and clinical education. With an agile approach and willingness to go the extra mile, you will become the trusted advisor for General Practitioners, Specialists, Pharmacists, and Cannabis Clinics.

The role is well suited to an experienced sales professional that is commercially astute, experienced in negotiation, and enthusiastic for added responsibility. Experience within the medical cannabis industry will be highly regarded.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the territory business plan to deliver growth for the Brisbane and Northern Queensland territory.
  • Maximize engagement and interaction with current and potential medicinal cannabis prescribers both face-to-face and remotely.
  • Accelerate education of health professionals and build advocacy for the Tilray brands medical cannabis portfolio.
  • An outcome-focused approach – you will develop strategies to increase opportunities in the territory, build brand awareness, and generate demand.
  • Attend and represent Tilray at conferences (these may be outside of territory).
  • As applicable and after gauging a medical practitioner’s base knowledge, provide educational information on authorizing medical cannabis, potential benefits of medical cannabis, the need for medical cannabis for appropriate patients.
  • Utilize business reports, sales data, and Salesforce CRM to identify opportunities, and develop a robust business plan.
  • Attend company meetings, team huddles, and conferences to share your insights and increase your knowledge.
  • When collaborating with a medical practitioner, validate that the medical practitioner is appropriately registered and entitled under the laws of the applicable state/territory to practice medicine and is not named in any notations, conditions, or reprimands under AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
  • Be conversant with the appropriate local governing bodies, such as the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration), Department of Health and Aged Care, and remain current on all aspects of medicinal cannabis.
  • Ensure compliance with advertising parameters for narcotics as well as any guidance provided by the TGA and DoH.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ direct work experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare sales with proven ability to convert prospects and close deals (previous experience with Medicinal Cannabis is highly desirable).
  • A bachelor’s degree in science or business is preferrable.
  • Professional demeanor, selling style, and appearance with proven experience in opportunity qualification, pre-visit planning, call control, account development, and time and territory management.
  • Success in qualifying opportunities involving multiple key decision makers.
  • Strong problem identification and objection resolution skills with a demonstrable ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with medical practitioners.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills along with excellent listening skills.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work individually and as part of a team, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm.
  • Able to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel both nationally and internationally.
  • Must have the ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Applications and preference given to experience with customer relationship management software.
  • Driver’s License in good standing with a clean driving record.
