Job Title: Deployment and Platform Engineer

Job Purpose:  

As a Deployment and Platform Enginner you will be joining the Engineering team and responsibilities will include maintaining, automating, deploying, and monitoring of various systems across multiple environments. This role will help maintain and create various environments in AWS to support the overall SDLC of the various applications, with a heavy emphasis on moving completely towards Infrastructure as Code.  

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle, including planning, requirements, development, testing, automation, and quality assurance.
  • With Engineering’s assistance merge cross-feature branches as part of the deployment process.
  • Own Deployment process for multiple applications in multiple environments including several legacy applications. 
  • Work with the infrastructure team to set up additional environments in AWS. 
  • Ability to automate business tasks using any scripting language as a bridge towards the modernization of existing legacy applications. 
  • Lead and schedule all deployments in the production environment and track ongoing platform updates and application-related maintenance tasks and issues, communicating changes effectively to end users.
  • Maintain and own application CI/CD processes, including Git and current deployment processes. 
  • Be the liaison with third-party infrastructure teams and the conduit for system-related escalations. 
  • Assist the Engineering team in identifying System performance and areas of potential improvements. 
  • Pager Duty for Emergency Support Issues.
Qualifications

Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft stack (C#)
  • Strong experience scripting and automating back-end processes; Node or PowerShell
  • Ability to write Structured Query Language (SQL) against various databases, to pull and/or modification of data
  • Prior experience in monitoring applications like Data Dog, New Relic, and Grafana including setup of dashboards
  • Experience in application performance monitoring, analysis, and tuning
  • Automation experience using DevOps concepts

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science / Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field; or 5+ years of directly related experience
  • 5+ years of application support experience
  • Prior experience migrating solutions in AWS
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Service and understanding of virtualization
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Prior experience using Git and GitHub Actions
