The Legal Intern position resides in the Technology Policy department at CableLabs. This department manages public policy priorities within CableLabs and provides technical expertise to our members. Our team plays a crucial role in ensuring that policy matters are considered in CableLabs’ innovation process and that technology development is considered in members policy advocacy.

 

Why This Internship Is Exciting

You will experience researching and analyzing a variety of technology policy topics as applied to new and emerging technologies and have the opportunity to work with the Legal team on additional topics, such as intellectual property, contracts, and corporate legal matters. 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Research and analyze legal and regulatory precedents in the wireless, spectrum, cybersecurity and privacy policy areas.
  • Monitor and identify newsworthy government actions to share with other departments at CableLabs
  • Assist the Legal Department with intellectual property research & filings and contract terms review, as time permits
  • Attend trade association and member meetings with Tech Policy team members on a weekly basis
Qualifications

What Is a Must Have

  • Currently enrolled in law school and completed at least one year prior to the start date of the internship
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision 
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas 
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

 

 

What Will Set You Apart

  • Knowledge or experience in the technology company space
  • Interest in intellectual property legal work
  • Experience in a legal setting
  • An interest in learning new topics, legal research experience, and excellent writing skills
