Job Description Summary
The Netter Center for Community Partnerships is currently seeking full time UACS CHOP HT Project Associate to help support a range of school-based supportive services and mental health partnerships, between the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the Netter Center as part of CHOP’s Healthier Together Initiative, and the City of Philadelphia Out-of-School Time (OST) program. The position will take support referral pathways to any of our HT supported services and will work to increase student enrollment in BenePhilly and accessibility to OST programs. This position will also support Peer support groups for grief and loss for K-12 students, in partnership with the Uplift Center for Grieving Children (Uplift), and the Stress Less Initiative (SLI) program for staff, in partnership with the CHOP Center for Violence Prevention. The responsibilities of the Project Associate include a wide range of tasks including direct service, coordination and administration of program implementation, as well as data collection.
Job Description
Founded in 1992, the Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community Partnerships is the University's primary vehicle for advancing civic and community engagement at Penn. It brings together the resources and assets of both the University and the wider community to help solve universal problems such as poverty, health inequities, environmental sustainability, and inadequate, unequal education as they are manifested in the University's local geographic area of West Philadelphia and Philadelphia at large. The Netter Center develops and helps implement democratic, mutually transformative, place-based partnerships between Penn and West Philadelphia that advance research, teaching, learning, practice, and service and improve the quality of life on campus and in the community. The Netter Center works with and serves as a model for other higher education institutions across the United States and around the world.
The Netter Center’s university-assisted community schools (UACS) is a strategy to educate, engage, empower, and serve all members of the community in which the school is located and engage students (K-16+) in real world, community problem solving learning. UACS collaborates with partners to advance teaching, research, learning and service, as well as the civic development of their students.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Coordinate and Support Partnerships (Uplift, AVP )
Co-facilitate grief groups with Uplift clinicians; Lead family outreach and enrollment process for Uplift and AVP groups; Coordinate regular meetings between partners and providers; Communicate with partners, providers, caregivers, and students using multiple communication methods; Coordinate related family engagement activities
Coordinate and Support SLI Partnership
Manage operational logistics such as scheduling, food ordering, and group communications for SLI; Assist SLI facilitators with coordination and administration of the program; Coordinate related staff activities or professional development.
Evaluation & Data Collection
Record, track and maintain student participant program plans, enrollment daily attendance and manage required paperwork. Communicate with Netter colleagues across all school sites to build team learning and best practices.
Family Outreach, Engagement & Supportive Services Education
Support UACS staff with family engagement and outreach with respective case load; develop and maintain a resource directory for students and their families; develop, implement and lead ongoing family education activities. Provide training to UACS and school-based staff to ensure they have appropriate knowledge of SEL and youth mental health first aid.
Support existing student wellness partnerships
Document partnership progress by maintaining meeting notes & relevant documents; Conduct research (as necessary) for projects; Develop resources to support project sustainability; Assist evaluation team in data collection and management; Offer on-site technical assistance for partners; Support other social-emotional learning activities that complement these programs (school day and after school)
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelors degree in Public Health, Education, Social Work, or other related disciplines is preferred. 2 to 3 years work experience with elementary-aged children and/or high school youth development programming is required. Preferred experience with facilitation of social-emotional learning content and/or trauma-informed training. Experience with working in School District of Philadelphia, urban settings and diverse student populations, ability to be flexible and work on a team, ability to work independently and meet deadlines, excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills and punctual and regular attendance is required.
Completion and passing of funder-required compliance documentation and all Federal and State background checks/clearances. You may be required to renew your clearances, before beginning work. Clearances include:
