Conducts a wide range of quantitative market analysis for a cross-functional audience, including executive leadership, Sales, Marketing, CTO, CSO and PLM organizations. This role is responsible for gathering, organizing, and analyzing data from market research, competitive monitoring, and industry reports to drive insights that impact markets, customers, and Ciena.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market sizing and forecasting used to analyze and maintain addressable market size and forecast model across all products, solutions, and customer segments in which Ciena competes.
  • Market share analysis to assist in creating detailed analytical reports on Ciena and competitor market share results, segmented by market, region, and customer type.
  • Industry and macroeconomic analysis by collecting and analyzing data on global macroeconomic and broad telecommunications industry trends, including analysis of capital expenditures, service provider revenues, etc. 
  • Industry analyst communications to help prepare spokespeople for communications with industry analysts on segment-specific results and performance trends analysis on quarterly basis.
  • Address market intelligence requests to address incoming requests for market research and intelligence from across the company promptly.
  • SharePoint management to maintain and update the internal SharePoint site for the Market & Competitive Intelligence team.
  • New market opportunity assessment by conducting market research to evaluate the attractiveness of new growth opportunities.
  • Assist Market Intelligence, PLM, Marketing, and CSO teams in executing custom market research projects with industry analysts.
  • Financial analysis to evaluate strategic and tactical implications of the financial health of Ciena’s customers, suppliers, and competitors.
  • Assist in producing ad-hoc and quarterly financial analysis for the executive team and other stakeholders.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative-oriented field of study
  • Highly analytical with excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Curiosity and ability to learn about networking technologies and products
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Self-starter/takes initiative
  • Thorough, detail-oriented, resourceful
  • Confident, creative, fast thinker

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • Demonstrated professional communication skills, both written and oral
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and professional etiquette

Compensation and Benefits 


The annual pay range for this position in Canada is $60, 700 - $96, 900 CAD.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

 

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
