ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized candidate to join our team as Manager, Project Finance. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound industry knowledge, superior communications, and detail-oriented organizational skills. This role reports to the VP, Project Finance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Identify potential project investors within the equity fund and banking communities and develop strategies to build up our utility-scale solar and storage project pipeline in North America; propose, facilitate, and close project finance solutions.
• Lead financial modeling analysis and provide contract negotiation support to advance power marketing efforts for the Avantus pipeline of projects.
• Create and maintain complex project finance models for internal and external parties to evaluate renewable energy projects during various stages of development, construction, and operation on an individual and portfolio basis.
• Specifically synthesize and model terms of construction loans, tax equity bridge loans, and sponsor equity with back-leverage loans in time and yield-based partnership flip structures.
• Review project documentation and third-party reports, including PPAs, financing term sheets and agreements, IE reports, etc., and accurately integrate assumptions into financial models.
• Independently develop and run sensitivities in models and quantify resultant impact on sponsor Internal Rate of Return and profit
• Create marketing materials for fundraising, including teasers, CIMs, and management of data rooms.
• Manage closing process, including coordinating reviews and approvals across multi-functional teams, populate the projects’ virtual data rooms, to bring the transaction to financial close under tight timeframes.
• Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in project finance, corporate finance, or investment banking within renewable energy or a similar industry.
• Proficiency in project finance structures, including partnership flips, construction financing, and back-leverage; knowledge of sale-leasebacks and inverted leases is a plus.
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams by managing financial, legal, and internal review processes to ensure successful transaction closures.
• Strong communication skills with a demonstrated history of building relationships and fostering collaboration within cross-functional teams.
• Adaptable to fast-paced and dynamic work environments.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel modeling expertise.

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience creating marketing materials, including teasers, CIMs, and managing data rooms.
• Demonstrated ability to bring closure to complex and high value business transactions under tight timeframes, investment banking experience a plus.
• Basic understanding of Visual Basic or equivalent programing skills for Macro auditing.
