Job description

Position Summary: The Internal Audit Associate position is responsible for performing objective, independent, and reliable assessments of the Bank’s internal control environment and its compliance with applicable laws/regulations, under the supervision of the Director of Internal Audit. The Internal Audit Associate position also assists with the formation of reasonable recommendations to Management for process improvements and assists in validating that the requisite corrective actions had been taken timely.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the preparation, execution and completion of assigned audits in accordance with the audit program and to perform related testwork in a thorough and efficient manner.   
  • Assist in the development of comprehensive audit programs to test targeted functions for adequate controls. 
  • Understand, evaluate and opine on the effectiveness of the Bank’s internal controls.
  • Review the reliability of financial reporting and other related systems.  
  • Assess the effectiveness of the controls in place for safeguarding client and Bank assets.
  • Test the effectiveness of internal controls relating to transaction processing functions.
  • Review for compliance with regulatory/legal requirements, internal policies/procedures and industry best practice.   
  • Regular attendance at the FineMark location designated in this job description, during regular business hours, or assigned hours for the position, is required. This is not a remote-work position.
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned.

 

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a banking and/or internal audit field.   
  • Understanding of the internal audit process, risk management and banking. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in the accounting or finance fields, or in a business-related discipline, is preferred but not required. 
  • Certified Public Accountant and/or recognized auditing certifications is preferred but not required.  
  • Effective business writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge and ability to use MS Office and other standard software applications.
  • Aptitude for quick learning and independent decision making.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

   Visual Acuity Requirements. Close visual acuity and the ability to adjust focus, with or without correction, are required to perform activities such as, viewing a computer monitor or written materials and documents; reading; writing; preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; close visual inspection.  Some distance vision and color vision may be necessary.

 Environmental Conditions.  A person is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions and only exposed to moderate noise; they may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts or machinery such as a copier/printer.
