Job description

  • Samaritan Health Plans (SHP) provides health insurance options to Samaritan employees, community employers, and Medicare and Medicaid members. SHP operates a portfolio of health plan products under several different legal structures: InterCommunityHealth Plans, Inc. (IHN) is designated as a regional Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) for Medicaid beneficiaries; Samaritan Health Plans, Inc. offers Medicare Advantage, Commercial Large Group, and Commercial Large Group PPO and EPO plans; SHP is also the third-party administrator for Samaritan Health Services’ self-funded employee health benefit plan.

More Specifically, The Vendor Manager Will

  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
  • Vendor Program Manager will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the vendor management program, ensuring that our organization receives the best value and quality from our vendors. This position will be establishing operational vendor management goals for the organization, identifying the cross organizational matrix/RACI needed to support the vendors, and achieving measurable savings and/or risk mitigation. The Vendor Program Manager will work in conjunction with Samaritan’s business leadership to ensure the end to end vendor management process is functioning efficiently. The role will require presenting departmental updates, issues/resolutions, and risks to senior executives.
  • Develop vendor management annual strategy and goals; roll them out to the SHP.
  • - Drive vendor partners to achieve operational and performance goals. Represent Samaritan at weekly, monthly, and quarterly vendor business review meetings to ensure compliance with our guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • - Monitor the industry for best practices related to vendors.
  • - Create a portfolio of department project and initiatives including business cases to show positive return on investment (ROI).
  • - Achieve annual budget targets and monitor against goals.

  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Three (3) years directly related experience in a managed care/health plan/health insurance setting required.
  • Leadership experience required.
  • Five (5) years experience in vender management strongly preferred.
  • Experience in management principles, practices, policies, procedures and regulations as they relate to assigned program(s) required.
  • Experience and/or training in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheet software, required.
