WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Our Social Impact Solutions group is dedicated to dramatically improving learning and life outcomes for all children. We believe that great public schools and high-quality education have the potential to be life-changing, especially for students in underserved communities. We partner with leaders in government, philanthropy, and other education organizations and draw on our experience in the education space to solve complex problems facing public schools and communities. We deliver customized services and products—including data, finance, and instructional tools—from initial design through the last step of execution.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Curriculum Development who can lead a team of curriculum developers and writers in the long-term development of high-quality, integrated K–5 curriculum materials that align with specific instructional standards and learning outcomes. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated effectiveness in shepherding curriculum from initial design to final publication and classroom implementation. This role will lead a team of 5–10 curriculum and project management colleagues and play a pivotal role in ensuring that high-quality instructional materials lead to high achievement for diverse learners.
In this role, you will:
- Oversee the creation, revision, and integration of cross-content K-5 curriculum by the Curriculum Developers to align with state, national, or organizational academic standards.
- Lead cross-functional teams of educators, subject matter experts, and stakeholders in curriculum design projects.
- Ensure that curricula meet the diverse needs of students, incorporating inclusive and culturally relevant practices.
- Integrate innovative teaching methods, technology, and instructional tools into curriculum frameworks to support the Curriculum Developers and Curriculum Writers.
- Develop and implement tools to assess the effectiveness of curricula and instructional strategies.
- Analyze student performance data to identify areas for curriculum improvement.
- Provide recommendations to enhance curriculum effectiveness based on evidence and feedback.
- Collaborate with state-level educational leaders and external partners to ensure curriculum alignment with school objectives.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to educators, supporting their understanding and implementation of curriculum materials.
- Organize and deliver training sessions and workshops on curriculum implementation and best practices in instruction.
- Stay informed about emerging trends in education and share insights with teaching staff.
- Ensure curriculum and instructional materials comply with local, state, and federal education regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accreditation standards and ensure alignment in curriculum practices.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field with a strong academic background in Curriculum and Instruction. Master's degree preferred
- Ten (10) or more years of experience in Education (PK-12) preferred or public sector professional experience
- Five (5) or more years of people management experience
- Proven track record of successful project management skills
- Direct experience overseeing effective, large-scale curriculum development

- Capacity for managing and leading people; ability to connect with people both on an individual level and in large groups; capacity to enforce accountability, develop and empower top notch leaders from the bottom up, cultivate entrepreneurship, and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the team so as to put people in a position to succeed
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience working and building relationships with clients and with external stakeholders
- Ability to manage, prioritize, and multi-task on multiple projects
- An ability to navigate ambiguity comfortably and meet frequent deadlines
- A sense of humor and ability to work in a dynamic environment
- Ability to travel depending on client needs
