Job description

Position Purpose: Oversee the research of policy issues and communicate the company's policy positions to management and outside interests. Provide detailed analysis of legislative issues impacting the company. Serve as one of the primary point-of-contacts with government personnel and agencies.
  • Develop state legislative public policies concerning state insurance, Managed Care Organization and Medicare and Medicaid regulations through the initiatives of state legislators and staff
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key state legislative policymakers and other key government agency officials to enhance the health plan’s role as a partner with the state and to assist in shaping public policy initiatives
  • Identify, evaluate and analyze the impact of state legislative and regulatory issues for state health plans and the corporation
  • Represent the health plan at legislative and agency meetings in an in-session and post-session capacity
  • Facilitate lobby management and other political activities
  • Provide policy expertise on the insurance industry, managed care, Medicare and Medicaid program
  • Monitor legislative activities, regulatory activities, as well as print and media broadcast and develop the company’s position

Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Health Policy, Public Policy, or related field. 6+ years of combined public policy, lobbying experience. Previous experience with state legislature, health care trade associations including America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and federal and state Medicare and Medicaid laws and regulations.

Pay Range: $113,800.00 - $210,500.00 per year
