Job description

Overview:

We are seeking to fill the role of Bankruptcy Specialist II. The ideal candidate enjoys collaborating with clients, industry partners and internal teams to maximize outcomes for homeownert reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities
• Work with vendors, attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure best practices and industry standards are observed
• Review and reallocate funds in suspense to ensure proper payment application
• Evaluate and approve fee requests within applicable investor guidelines
• Assist internal departments to ensure proper servicing action is taken
• Perform and maintain controls as required by internal procedures
• Stay abreast of bankruptcy laws/procedures and governing investor guidelines
• Review accounts at acquisition/onboarding to ensure compliance with internal controls
• Manage Bankruptcy milestones
• Monitor Bankruptcy docket to ensure appropriate action is taken
• Complete comprehensive monthly review of assigned bankruptcy portfolio (including but not limited to identifying necessary filings and/or referrals to attorneys, and other actions needed to facilitate the bankruptcy process)
• Assist in quality control of vendor-managed processes
• Monitor and oversee vendors for assigned tasks and processes
• Review attorney-prepared documents for execution
• Conduct research on bankruptcy matters (e.g., payment application, payment history, trustee ledger, and cancelled checks)
• Correspond with attorneys and promptly address requests for information and documents
• Review and reconcile accounts at bankruptcy case closure
• Monitor and process mail
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Working knowledge of accepted business practices in the mortgage industry and/or strong understanding of federal bankruptcy processes
• Proficiency in bankruptcy search tools
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word

• Effective time-management skills and the ability to multi-task

 

Desired Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred
• 3+ years of experience in bankruptcy/default mortgage servicing, general mortgage servicing, or  the legal field preferred
• Working knowledge of Black Knight Desktop-PM preferred
• Black Knight-MSP (Mortgage Servicing Platform) experience preferred

Work Conditions 

Able to attend work and be productive during normal business hours and to work early, late or weekend hours as needed for successful job performance. Overtime required as necessary.

  • Occasional lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
