Seeking a UX & Visual Designer for a cloud solutions contract supporting Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The UX & Visual Designer will craft user-friendly interfaces by combining user research insights with visually appealing design elements, including layout, typography, color, and imagery, ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience across various platforms. The UX & Visual Designer will collaborate with cross-program teams to identify opportunities, develop strategies, and execute service design projects from concept to delivery. They will lead efforts to identify and understand client and customers' needs, analyze existing processes, and conceptualize solutions that improve the overall user experience in digital and physical terms, collaborating for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Examine the customer ecosystems to understand and visualize the complex relationships and interdependencies between people, processes, and technology.
• Identify gaps within existing systems and where business objectives and users' needs are met while providing an understanding of customer behaviors as they navigate processes and service delivery.
• Responsible for designing and optimizing IT services, focusing on enhancing user experience.
• Understanding user needs, analyzing system performance, and developing innovative solutions to improve IT solutions that serve the workforce.
• Collaborate with various stakeholders to plan a suite of IT systems that are intuitive, efficient, and meet users' needs.
• Design high-impact visuals for web platforms, mobile applications, dashboards, and executive presentations.
• Create pixel-perfect UI components, data visualizations, and infographics tailored to products, services, tools, reports, dashboards, etc.
• Deliver designs that balance creativity with usability and accessibility and are 508 compliant.
• Stay ahead of trends in visual design, typography, color theory, and motion graphics.
• Develop dashboards, presentations, etc.
• Create visually compelling program templates that are intuitive and engaging.
• Design impactful decks for board meetings, executive reviews, and customer-facing presentations, aligning program and client standards.
• Work closely with teams to align visual designs with strategic goals.
• Ensure cohesive branding across all digital and offline touchpoints.
• Contribute to developing and evolving enterprise tools and applications to ensure scalability and consistency across platforms.
• Ensure all visual assets comply with ADA accessibility standards and industry regulations and are 508 compliant.
• Create high-fidelity visual prototypes to communicate ideas to stakeholders effectively.
• Incorporate feedback and usability insights into iterative design improvement.
• Mentor and guide program team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to inform design decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Visual Design, Graphic Design, or a related field and 8 years of experience or 10 years of experience with an associate degree.

• Visual design, with a strong focus on web, mobile apps, dashboards, and presentations.
• Mastery of design tools.
• Expertise in designing dashboards, data visualizations, and crafting visually engaging financial graphics.
• Advanced understanding of typography, color theory, visual hierarchy, and layout design.
• Experience in ADA and 508 compliance and accessible design for digital platforms.
• Collaborative mindset, ready to support, mentor, coach, and elevate the teams existing talent with your skills.
• Strong communication skills for presenting ideas and designs to stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven ability to manage and deliver multiple complex projects within deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
• Experience managing technical/support teams.
• Experience utilizing service delivery in a government systems and services environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
• Strong understanding of collaborative tools like Atlassian, Mural, and Slack.
• Strong customer interaction/service skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to speak in a public forum.
• Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills; ability to interact effectively with others.
• Empathetic and possess strong leadership skills to drive user-centric initiatives within the organization.

Desired

• Cloud (AWS and MAG) familiarity
• Experience with federal contracts and projects
• 2 years experience with CMS
• Worked in SAFe Agile methodology
