Technical Project Manager- VM Migration

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead and oversee the migration of on-premises virtual machines (VMs) to a cloud environment (AWS, Clienture, or Google Cloud Platform). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex VM migration projects, ensuring seamless transition with minimal disruption, and collaborating closely with stakeholders, technical teams, and third-party vendors. This role demands a strong understanding of cloud technologies, VM management systems, and best practices in cloud migration.


Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Management

• Develop, manage, and execute detailed project plans for the migration of VMs from on-premises to the cloud.
• Define project scope, objectives, milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
• Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to ensure successful and timely completion.
• Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring that mitigation strategies are in place.

• Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including business units, IT teams, and third-party vendors.
• Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
• Facilitate meetings and discussions to gather requirements, provide updates, and resolve issues promptly.

• Lead cross-functional teams, including cloud engineers, network/security specialists, and business analysts.
• Foster a collaborative work environment, ensuring that team members are aligned and working towards common goals.
• Coordinate with external vendors and consultants to ensure adherence to project timelines and deliverables.

• Collaborate with technical teams to design and implement best practices for VM migration and management in the cloud environment.
• Ensure that security, compliance, and performance requirements are met throughout the migration process.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving migration-related technical issues to minimize disruption to business operations.

• Allocate resources effectively, managing budgets and expenses to ensure that projects are delivered within financial constraints.
• Track and report on resource utilization and project expenditures.
• Documentation and Compliance
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, risk logs, and change requests.
• Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements during and after the migration process.
• Prepare and present post-migration reports and analysis, highlighting successes, challenges, and lessons learned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. A PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in IT Project Management, with at least 2 years of experience managing VM migrations, preferably from on-premises to cloud environments like AWS, Clienture, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Proven experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, Clienture, and/or Google Cloud Platform services.
• Strong understanding of VM management systems (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, KVM) and migration tools such as AWS VM Import/Export, Clienture Migrate, and Google Cloud Migrate for Compute Engine.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders, align business and technical requirements, and drive teams to deliver on time.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in risk management and change management.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies is preferred.
• Knowledge of IT compliance and security best practices related to VM management and cloud solutions.

• Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Clienthitect, Microsoft Certified - Clienture Solutions Clienthitect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Clienthitect.
• Experience with automation tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for infrastructure as code (IaC) in cloud environments.
• Understanding of VM performance tuning techniques and best practices for cloud cost optimization
