The role
We are seeking a highly skilled Security and Infrastructure Engineer with a strong foundation in data centre and cloud technologies to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have more than likely have worked in an MSP for over 7 years, a proven track record in designing, implementing, securing and managing complex on premise (e.g. data centre) and cloud environments across multiple customers.
This role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a strategic mindset to ensure optimal network and cloud performance, reliability, and security.
The Security and Infrastructure Engineer role will be working as a member of the Professional Services Delivery team, within Ekco Cloud.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Architecture and implementation of on premise (e.g. data centre) and cloud projects.
Lead in the design, implementation and support of technical projects across extensive customer base across all industries
Design, implement, and manage cloud-based infrastructure solutions on Microsoft Azure platform.
Automate infrastructure, cloud provisioning and management using scripting languages.
Optimise cloud resource utilisation and cost-efficiency.
Design, implement, and maintain network and security infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
Technical lead on projects and collaborate with project stakeholders to understand all requirements, develop the project scope and design solutions that meets the customer’s needs.
Ability to provide technical leadership and advice to Ekco customers.
Providing mentoring programs to the other members of the Professional Services Delivery team.
Provide escalation support and troubleshoot technology issues using various internal and external resources.
Keep up to date with relevant industry standards, technologies and market trends.
Adhering to professional standards in service performance and quality in all areas of the role.
Excellent Communication skills/oral and written

Manage effective handover of the solution to the support team post-project.
Forward looking to ensure Ekco are ahead of the curve in providing new innovative services and solutions to our customer. Ability to present and sell these opportunities internally.
Skills And Experience
Excellent Technical knowledge in cloud architecture, network infrastructure, Security, Windows server, virtualisation technologies, backups and networking routing.
Typically, this level of resource should have over seven years of experience or more working within the IT Services Industry, ideally in an MSP in a hands on technical role.
In depth Knowledge of our Microsoft cloud platforms e.g. Azure, EM+S, 0365
In depth knowledge of technical solutions e.g. MS Defender, Windows Server, VMWare/Hyper-V, Veeam, networking, wireless, storage and Active Directory.
In depth knowledge of Security solution e.g. Firewalls, IDS/IPS solutions and authentication.
Knowledge of corporate Security Policies / Standards and Practices.
Knowledge of Security Auditing Practices and Tools.
Demonstrate successful delivery of multiple technical projects.
Experience in preparing business solution proposals and presentation to senior executives.
The ability to react well to pressure in a fast-paced environment is going to be essential.
Comfortable switching and adapting to changing priorities
Good written and verbal communication skills to assist translation of complex technical subjects for sometimes non-technical audiences.
Must have full driving licence and be willing to travel to Ekco and client locations as required to complete project requirements.
Ability to approach, own and solve problems independently as well as part of a team
A strong team player with a flexible approach.
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field is preferred (but not mandatory).
