What is headspace's Online Communities Online Communities provides online peer to peer support via our online group chats to young people and family.Online Communities is part of the headspaceDigital Mental Health Programs , a division of headspace National which provides online support via digital mediums to young people and families across Australia. The headspace Online Community aims to provide opportunities for meaningful connection, peer support and real-time discussion about specific topics with peer workers. About the role Join our Online Communities team to provide peer support and moderation for young people aged 12-25. This role is all about creating a safe, welcoming online Group Chat space where young people can connect, share their experiences, and develop strategies and tools to navigate their mental health journey.

As part of this role, you will:

  • Use your lived experience to facilitate a safe and supportive online Group Chat space for connection and sharing within our Online Communities.
  • Work alongside a team of peer workers from across Australia.
  • Receive training in peer work principles and online moderation to help foster an inclusive, supportive environment.

Who we're looking for someone who can

  • Use your lived experiences with mental health challenges and recovery to empower and support young people in themed online Group Chats.
  • Build trust, foster hope, and connect meaningfully with young people in our online community and Group Chats.
  • Be familiar with our community guidelines and confidently remind others of their responsibilities.
  • Encourage engagement by nurturing discussions, sharing stories, and supporting users in the online space.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and positive online Group Chat space through active and friendly moderation.
  • Proactively identify and address content that doesn't align with our community guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with other peer workers to ensure the smooth and successful operation of Group Chats.

To be eligible for this position you must

  • Have the right to live and work in Australia
  • Hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent, and/or pass all of the WWCC(s) required for this role (please note that for some roles, headspace requires WWCCs for other State/Territories in addition to your Home State)
  • Satisfactorily undergo a headspace Police Check
