Your duties will include loading and unloading cargo, navigating predetermined routes, adhering to traffic laws and regulations, and maintaining accurate driving records. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently replacing utility poles. You will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure the reliable and secure installation of new poles.

Key Responsibilities:

Vehicle Operation: Safely operate a heavy tractor-trailer combo rig with a capacity of 40,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) (F-350 with a 40’ pole trailer), according to established routes and schedules. Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving to ensure the safety of passengers, pedestrians, and other road users.

Cargo Management: Load and unload poles and equipment onto the vehicle, ensuring that it is properly secured and distributed to maintain vehicle stability and safety during transit.

Route Navigation: Navigate predetermined routes using maps, GPS devices, or other navigation tools to reach destinations efficiently and on time. Monitor traffic conditions, road closures, and weather forecasts to identify alternative routes and avoid delays or hazards. Effectively maneuver equipment in parking lots with obstacles and limited space.

Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure that it is in good working condition. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and brake systems, and report any defects or mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage logs, fuel purchases, delivery receipts, and other relevant documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Complete paperwork promptly and submit it to the appropriate departments as needed.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents, injuries, or property damage while driving and performing pole replacement activities. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and maintain a vigilant awareness of potential hazards on the road in the work environment.

Pole Replacement: Safely remove and replace utility poles according to established guidelines and safety procedures.

Equipment Operation: Operate specialized equipment such as cranes and hand tools to facilitate the replacement process. Ensure all equipment is maintained in proper working condition and report any issues to the appropriate supervisor.

Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members, including electricians, supervisors, and customers, to coordinate pole replacement projects and ensure efficient workflow. Communicate effectively to address any challenges or issues that arise during the course of work.

Customer Service: Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customers or members of the public while performing pole replacement tasks. Address any inquiries or concerns promptly and represent the company in a positive light.
